We're back and I am slowly flushing the alcohol from my battered body. Two weeks of hard partying is a lot tougher now then in my 20's. We love Paty-O's!... Being night owls....some said vampires....we'd didn't spend nearly as much time with the group here as we would have liked. Great bunch of people. Jim (Backs) kept us somewhat connected.. as he burned the candle at both ends. Poor guy kept rolling his eyes as the night wore on and Kim called for yet another round of tequila. But he's a trooper. The three days of rain, and that Techno music at Nice Shoes I love to hate so much inspired me to go into town and buy a guitar. I figured I'd make my own music. A group of us took over the lobby one night and had a blast playing good ole' country music and some rock & roll. I even managed to sneak in a couple of Merle Haggard tunes...lol. I was amazed how many other people played guitar and took their turns. While Kim kept her feet firmly on the ground I ventured out to follow through with my "face a fear a year" personal growth program. I have a high sense of self preservation (read...fear...lol) so this year it was taking a ride on the para-sail. I'm sure the girl I shared the ride with could see my dread through my frozen smile and babbling...lol. She was an experienced sky diver so it was no big deal to her. I should have drank more before going. All in all a great trip....great people and great times

...hmmm guitar .... might have to look for one when I'm down there ! You can never have too many guitars !
That's a great report - being a guitar player and having entertained a resort crowd or two in my day (though none at the TTR), i'm with you on the fun of having an axe on vacation and leading a boozy crowd through some rousing renditions of fun songs. Wish I had been there with you!
Absolutely mutual! Glad to hear you made it back home safely through or around the ash cloud! It was a pleasure spending time with you.
Same here Dan. I won't forget our tequila challenge night any time soon. Even if I didn't find out it was a "challenge night" till you told me the next day....lol. OMG....25 + shots each and we lived to tell the tale! Remember, we need to change our avatar pic's. We were both told they don't do us justice. Particularly you. (Ladies....Dan is definitely eye candy....when Kim met him she asked if she could keep him. I said yes..but she had to feed him and clean up his messes...lol).
I found two music shops in town. The selection of acoustic guitars wasn't great. Most were nylon strings. I bought a Yamaha NTX700 which cost around $750.00 with a good case. It was roughly what I would have paid in Canada...maybe a touch more. But I have wanted a nylon string guitar for a while now and it is electric so it will do well for the few gigs I play here and there. I will definitely bring my steel string next time. A lot of people appreciated the entertainment and opportunity to play a few tunes themselves.
