We are trying to book 8 people from USA to Mexico in June, and just found that two have expired passports.

Does anyone know if I can make the airline reservation under the expired numbers, or do we need to wait until they get renewed passports before they can book the flights?

Entering the passport number should just be optional. At least it was a few days ago when I was booking another overseas flight.

Jen&santi are correct. You can still book flights without the passport.

Thanks! It was so hard getting the group organized, I want to book this before anyone does any more over-thinking!

I never had to put a passport number in and I'm flying from the UK. Guess it just means a little more time at passport control instead of a quick scan!

Not sure when you are going but to book I am pretty sure you do not have to put your passport number in. I am sure that you can also get your passport renewal done within a day or two if you already have a flight booked, to do this you will have to show them confirmation of your travel arrangements made and it does cost a bit more as well

We booked ours without the passport number. But I did notice a warning that we have to go back and put it in before we can fly.
