We have been looking at doing some different tours while we are in Cancun. Does anyone have experience with booking these? Is it a better idea to book on here before we go, or wait til we get there and book it? Advice PLEASE! :)

If you are going to book a tour here is the way to save about half. Take the bus to Market 28 it is 5 minutes and 8.5 pesos away from TTR. There are all kinds of tour operators there and they do it for way less than what your going to pay at the hotels. They will pick you up from your hotel just like the hotel tour but they do not have the mark up that the hotels charge. We were going to go to Chichen Itza for the vernal equinox since we were there last month and the tours were half that of what the hotels wanted. Kind of far drive from Cancun and the kids wanted to tan instead so we hung out at the pools and Market 28 that day shopping. I hated being so close to TTR and driving by on the way to the market seeing the hotel. It was torture to know what fun was going on there instead of the YOUNG spring breakers raising hell at our hotel.

You have to put trust in the vendors on the streets but we've had no problem last year and got some great deals (Bought from booth in front of Krystal Hotel)!! You must know how to bargain for the best price or you will get ripped off and go to Chitzen for over $100pp. We did 3 trips total. We did two 1/2 days tours for $40 pp (jungle tour and underwater water museum boat ride) and Chitchen Itza for 70pp full day (yet you will sit on the bus with people who paid over $100 for the trip).
So for 3 trips we paid $260 for two people total!
So if you want to save $$ go and buy on the street and not from the hotel.
