Today's Boobs Cruise was cancelled by order of the Authorities. Refunds of deposits have already been sent.

We still don't know a reason, but I think the most likely theory is related to Covid BS.

We were informed at 9:15am that Cofepris (the Mexican authority responsible for health and sanitary measures) had ordered we were not allowed to run today.

Restrictions are reviewed every Thursday, and yesterday the Governor announced that every hotel, bar, shopping mall, and restaurant will require proof of vaccination and/or proof of a negative test.

"He also announced that in order to avoid parties that do not comply with sanitary measures, inspections and operations will be carried out in marinas, ferries, boats, and commercial establishments.

Those who are found to be in noncompliance will be subject to penalties such as fines, closures or revocation of permits or patents."

There could be another reason, but considering the order came from Cofepris, on the very day that measures were to be more strictly enforced, I can't help but think we were chosen to be made an example of. The Boobs Cruise uses the largest boat, has the most people, is the loudest, wildest, and attracts the most attention.

Although other boats did go out today, they were at a strict 50% capacity restriction.

Of course, almost all of our guests are double vaccinated, and we are an open-air event. The risk is really very low, and even before vaccinations with the pandemic at its peak, I don't know of a single case that could be attributed directly to the Boobs Cruise.

Covid cases have been rising in Cancun, but largely among unvaccinated locals and young people. This is the classic, being seen to do something, but totally missing the point.

Albatros have a meeting later today, and we should know more then.

Cofepris le "jala las orejas" a náuticos de Cancún por realizar fiestas en marinas - Noticaribe
    Note the last paragraph.

Cofepris "pulls the ears" of Cancun nautical people for holding parties in marinas.

CANCÚN, MX.- In order to inform you of the new measures and official provisions established for the nautical sector of Quintana Roo against covid-19, the head of the Federal Commission for the Protection against Sanitary Risks (COFEPRIS) in the entity, Miguel Pino Murillo , met with businessmen from this sector in Cancun.

He added that as of this Friday it is mandatory to carry out antigen tests or that the personnel who work on the boats and in all the state establishments present their certificates of their vaccination to avoid any spread of the coronavirus, both of the workers as of tourists.

“It is mandatory to respect the capacity and the healthy distance in the boats, the prohibition of massive events that endanger the health of the population, they are going to be required to carry out antigen tests or that the staff be with their vaccination certificates to avoid any spread of contagion both from workers and tourists who visit us ”, he stated.

Additionally, certificates of "safe establishment" will be established and all tourists will be asked to have their vaccination certificate or a negative antigen test no longer than 72 hours for the health care of the crew members who are within the Vessels and from Monday they will start with the verification operations.

The allowed capacity is 50% of the crew of each vessel and both the Harbor Master's Office, Integral Port Administration (APIQROO) and the Secretariat of the Navy (SEMAR) will supervise that the shipping companies and at sea respect the new provisions, otherwise The vessels will be insured and fines ranging from 200 to 2 Units of Measurement and Update (UMA) will be applied.

Finally, he said that so far he has only insured a boat that consists of a catamaran and that had on board a crew of more than 80% of its capacity and that is why they will look for all the private shipping companies and will locate all the departure docks to detect events at sea. back.jpg

We are back from tomorrow 26th July.

We'll be making a few minor changes to be a little more discrete. This will minimise reports and complaints. I feel it's because we are the biggest and loudest that we were made an example of.

These measures will include not flying our banner, staying away from other boats, avoiding proximity to beaches, and complying with reduced capacity restrictions.

Please also bring a mask for the beach club only. Sometimes they require them, sometimes not.

We also have a surprise new entertainment staff tomorrow working alongside Omar, as both Chinos and Sarah are away in the US.

    Boobs Cruise 26 July Cancelled.

We have just been told that we can not go ahead today. This despite being told yesterday afternoon everything was ok to go ahead with revised procedures.

It seems that the story has attracted widespread media attention and that there is a mole in our FB group. We would be followed all day by local media looking for the slightest misdemeanor.
Refunds will be sent out later today. Sorry.
