Hi All, I'm a mid-thirties single guy planning to dip my toe in the water in early August, just for a day... I'm getting out of a very conservative shroud in my life and want to experience something like Temptations. I'm not going just to try and get laid, I just want to be more free... Though if the opportunity is there I won't say no! My question is about body concerns... I am definitely not a physical Adonis... Though I'm not massively overweight either... 6ft, 230lb. Should I wait until I lose the pounds to go, or are folks pretty accepting? Also, I thought about the Boobs Cruise but don't want to be the single pervy guy that gets "the short end of the stick" lol. I'm going to be in a beach front suite the 9th through the 10th, so perhaps I may see y'all there.
You're in luck! You just happen to be going to the place where no Adonis has ever been. Except maybe for Gunther or Scott Arnold, but the REST OF US... Well, we're right there with you buddy! No worries. And you know what, nobody will care. What they WILL care about is your personality, and that's it. So, as a single guy, be friendly, say hi, share a laugh and a drink, be respectful of the ladies, and you'll have a great time. There will be plenty of people to talk to and have a great time with. And buy a couple pairs of square cut suits for the pool. SO COMFORTABLE, and you can pull off the look. They feel a little revealing at first, but after 5 minutes you'll never want to wear anything else. And compared to the skimpy stuff the ladies wear we've got it easy. It sounds like you'll fit in perfectly with the rest of us. Have a great time. btw, a day isn't going to be nearly long enough. Don't waste your time anyplace else
Don't worry about it. I'm 6'1" and holding about 220. Like anyone I don't like the extra I'm carrying around the middle and in the fatback region, but when at the resort I'll even wear a thong. jnine is correct about square cuts feeling revealing at first, but once you join in and meet some people you'll wonder why all the fuss. Try to push your comfort level some, but by all means just be you. If you want to stick to board shorts you won't be the only one. I'm flying in on the 8th and will definitely introduce you to some folks if we cross paths.
My hubby & I went for our first trip in 2012. I was super nervous too about going because looking at the website for Temptation you need to be in your 20's & look like Ken & Barbie - not the case! Just like Jnine replied, it is all about your personality! The only person who cares if you need to lose a couple of lbs is YOU! So just relax, be respectful & be ready to have one of the best vacations that you will ever have!
This makes me feel about better, I am not packing a six pack my self either. I will buy some boxcut boxer swimsuits for my stay there
Oh my...if we all waited until we were in Adonis or Barbie shape, the resort would be a ghost town! Don't be so hard on yourself--you deserve to let loose and have fun partying with fantastic people! And think about it--who would you rather hang with--stuffy, stick-up-his-arse Adonis who can't eat a burger until cheat day, or pudgy, has-a-smile-for-everyone-and-offers to grab the next round of shots Buddha? See? You're perfect! Have a great time!
I agree on the 1 night thing being an issue. Doesn’t sound like you are mr outgoing and that is fine. But wouldn’t that mean you would want more time to warm up to the place? One of the best parts is meeting fun and interesting people and that can occur over several days. And if you do meet fun people and start to build relationships night 1 won’t it suck to have to say goodbye the next morning?
Thanks everyone! Really appreciate your thoughts. I already booked my time at Secrets Playa Mujeres (non-refundable) before I found out about TTR. I'm going to book at another night and just have two places at my disposal . Figure if I go early Wednesday through Friday when my flight leaves, it's better than nothing!
Same, I had reserved at secrets, but did my research and I dropped it. Felt more like a adult family friendly resort.
