My gf and I both signed up to be volunteers for big brothers big sisters, has anyone ever done this? Im looking forward to it, just wondering if anyone else has any experiences with it?
Acouple of my friends have done this....one had an awesome experience really felt she made a differance in the young ladies life......my other friend wasn't as lucky and although he gave it his all his "little brother" has been behind bars off and on Best of luck to you both in your experiences
I did it a few years ago, Jason. It was very rewarding a lot of fun. The only reason I stopped was that I started going to Cancun so frequently and didn't thinkit was fair to continue if I was unable to make the time commitment. I had a "little sister" whicjh was a lot of fun for me since I'm an only child. We did things like go to movies, out to dinner, fairs and festivals and I even took her to work with me a few times. It did take some time to build a relationship and some trust. Just about everyone else in her life had walked out on her so she had put up some emotional walls. It's agreat program and I think you can get a lot out of it. Way to go!!!
It's always nice to help others.. When I get to help others, it makes me feel better as a person... Always good to help when we can.
jason i was a big sister in college. it was a very gratifying experience. my liitle sister eventually went on to college and then we lost touch. we did however hang out from my sophomore year until after i graduated. she even came to hometown for a week. have fun! katie
