I called AT and T and I am hoping I understand what she said. Texting will cost .50 a minute, calling will cost 1.00 a minute. I also have to turn off the data service and rely on WIFI. Is there free WIFI close by? Also, if I email thru the WIFI would that be considered free? I am not a tech person. Better suggestions?

    Thanks...............We arrive tomorrow.

The WIFI is sketchy but it works in places. We pay at&t for one month international plan but seldom use it. We usually just use the hotel computer and check our email once a day.

I was slightly wrong. Without a package, it is .50 PER TEXT ( no cost to receive text) 1.00 per minute for a call. We are only there 7 days and we just want to check on family every couple of days. I don't think we'll need anything special. I just have to remember to turn off data service. That could lead to big bucks........

Yea just turn your data services off so you aren't roaming. And you can go over by sandals and get on their wifi most of the time.

We have Verion and switched to the international plan for the month...but they prorate for the days you have the plan so just cancel when you return. Assume AT and T would be similar.

AT and T does. 30.00 per phone.............I really don't want to be tied to the internet that much............I am on vacation to get away from cell phones and internet. I'll probably have withdrawals!! :biggrinbandit:

Thats what we pay. Just in case we get an email and need to make some calls we put it on one phone.
