Last night I went to see Neil Dimond in Manchester, and I have to say he is the best singer and performer I have ever seen. He was awesome. i have liked him for many years and he is as good now as he was back in the 70's. He's aging well.
If you like rock... ....Heart was awesome last year! Ann Wilson can still RAWK, like no other woman on earth. She has some serious pipes! And Nancy on the guitars and mandolin, blues harp too was excellent. I love that band!
I agree that Neil Diamond definetely has some pipes on him, but the one woman who could probably blow him away is Martina McBride, I've seen her in concert probably 5 times and she just blows you away each and every single time, I'm not even a big fan of hers but seeing her live is amazing! Another one that impressed the heck out of me was Carrie Underwood, and believe it not Gretchen Wilson can belt out Barracuda like she sang the song originally herself!! (I'm soo jealous!! I'd love to see him in concert!!!)
:lol: Well, Neil Diamond did mentor the American Idols this year before they sang his tunes. Perhaps he could have used Sanjaya's help. Haven't heard Neil in concert but you can just sense that he is probably one of those timeless artists. Sort of like Tom Jones!
Do you know who these women, sang their songs from???? Heart. Ann Wilson wrote Barracuda, after meeting some slimeball backstage at a meet and greet. She is the lead singer of Heart. I see you didn't know that. And same with Carrie Underwood. She won AI with Alone. While Heart didn't write the song Alone, they did make it their own song, and made it a top 20 hit, back in the 80's. Heart are Rock Honorees with lifetime achievement rings. They were honored last year, at the VH1 show. The very first women--Ann and Nancy to receive the rings. And Ann's is so nice, she got the large 1 like the guys. Gretchen Wilson is not a sister of Ann and Nancy, but they are her mentors. She covered a lot of Heart songs, when she was starting out. She and Anastacia are the only 2 women, who can really nail that song! Gretchen is a friend of Ann and Nancy's. They gave her 1 of Nancy's acoustic guitars, at 1 of the country music award shows. I think it was the 1 from '06.
Ummm, if you read what I wrote, I said that Gretchen belted Barracuda like she sang the song originally herself.....didn't know I had to be specific and give exactly who did write it, sang it and what album and how long it was on the radio and on and on and on......egad....it was a post about Neil Diamond and who could belt out a tune.....go find someone else to nag at, I'm just a casual poster who likes to post on some topics.....topics like this are for fun, try to keep it that way.
