What's the name and the location of the best public beach to visit in Cancun on the eastern side of the hotel zone facing out to the Caribbean? Are there any public beaches that rent umbrellas and chairs? We are looking for a long, wide stretch of beach to really enjoy the sand and water plus the waves. Thank you.
The prettiest stretch of public access beach is still Playa Delphines. No rentals out there, though sometimes there are guys with umbrellas. It's located around km 18, across from the Ruinas del Rey. There is a beach club behind the nightclub called "The City", but there isn't much of a beach there. They've got a pool and beds and waiter service. It's the only one on the east side. Don't know what their prices are like now, my last time there was a couple of years ago and I found it expensive. On the north side there is a club called "Coco's Grill" that is public access, has a swimming pool and good food. Located around km 3, there is a minimum 100 peso order.
You just have to go to Playa Delphines. It is the most beautiful beach in Cancun IMO. There is a palapa that has surf boards, boogie boards, chairs and umbrellas for rent. There is a public Bano there. There is an attendant there to keep them clean you need to pay him a few pesos. We always give him a beer too, he likes that. Here is a pic. That is just a small portion of the beach, it goes for quite a stretch the other way too. That is about half of it.
CancunCanuck & Gonzo - Thanks for the info. You have been very helpful. Playa Delphines looks wonderful! We'll definitely go there. What about Playa Ballenas? As a second choice?
The beach in front of the Bay View Grand is really nice as well - especially for boogie boarding - plus stores etc. are loacted close by.
This interactive map shows the still remaining public access beach locations. http://www.cancungooglemaps.com/Cancunmap.htm
no boogie boarding by BVG this week, I have been at Portofino BVG all week and Caribbean is like one big pool, no waves at all
There was very little weather action in the Atlantic or the Caribbean the last time I looked. U need some kind of action for good waves.
Yes, but the hotels are very good at restricting access. There are many areas of beach that aren't accessible other than by walking for miles from the nearest public access point.
