First Post! Howdy everyone! My new bride and I are going to Cancun in 10 days! Many of the threads on CC have been so informative! Thanks for that! I am extremely interested in any Beachside Bars in the hotel zone that have nice party atmosphere at night. It appears all of the outdoor bars at our resort ( SecretstheVine ) close down at like 6pm. Always wanted to party at an oceanside bar at night... Any help would be appreciated!
Playa Tortugas is the only area I can think of that has beach bars open to the public that MIGHT be open in the night, and I have only ever seen locals there. Definetly no nightclub or party atmosphere on the beach in Cancun. Go to Playa del Carmen for that.
I'm not sure if the tortugas is the place with bungee jumping, if so they are usually pretty lively. There is also Mandala Beach but I think that may be more of a non late night place I could be wrong, it is right behind the city nightclub. You can see the ocean from Elevate also. In regard to beachside places, playa del carmen has tons of them. Its really cheap like $5 or something to take the bus to playa on ado, I could be wrong on this. None the less you could always do a night in playa. Most of the hotel strip is resorts. so if it ain't on resort then I don't know what is. Also however you could try something like a night at isla mujheras, I don't know what is there but it is all beach. Sometimes there are events at the beach, so depending on the date you could get a liscened event, some people just drink on the beach anyway, in playa, but I think it is technically illegal. Just a caution on the mandala beach thing, it may be better suited for single guys than just married guys. Mandala Beach also at the plaza like in the heart of the hotel beach area.. there is a bar or two, but they are indoor but there is a balcony that overlooks everything on the second floor. Very small and intimate corner bar.
Mandala Beach Club is open a couple of nights during the week as a nightclub with Tuesdays being the IT night to go. It's a great time for singles and couples. It's far from a bar...lots of electronic music. And from what I know from working at hotels in the HZ, you must be a guest, or on a daypass at the hotel to use their facilities. There are exceptions for a few resturants or sports bars, but those are not on the beach.
