    Hi Everyone,
Does anyone know when the beaches will open up again? I have a friend staying at Hard Rock Cancun and he is saying the beach is closed. I don't want to come to Cancun if we can swim in the ocean.

    Thanks
    Tiger

There is a beach at Temptation??
Just kidding, I heard they will open when the next phase of the traffic light happens.
I believe they are at Orange right now in Cancun.

    Red - maximum health alert
At this stage, only the essential activities are in operation. It includes mining, construction, and manufacturing of transportation equipment.

    Yellow - intermediate
At this stage, the activities are limited to public space and full economic activity.

    Orange - high
At this stage, essential activities are in operation and non-essential ones are reduced. Maximum care must be taken with vulnerable workers, such as pregnant women, older adults, and people with depressed immune deficiency.

    Green - normal day
Resumption of school, social, and leisure activities. At this stage, the economic activity will be full, with the reopening of bars and gyms, among others. The return to classes is also included.

Beaches are closed for locals. They are not closed for hotel patrons.

    Carry on

Steve how would this be enforced? (Other than racial profiling of course)

Not much beach action today at TTR.
But if course occupancy is limited.

By closing off the limited number of public access ways, and patrolling them.

My post was incorrect to a degree, although the end result is similar. The beaches aren't strictly closed to locals, it's the accesses that are closed to all.

Locals would be allowed to use the beach if they were staying at a hotel, and hotel guests would not be allowed to use accesses to the beach from the street.

Steve-- great to know because we were planning on renting a car and going to other places in the area with better beaches. Any rumblings yet on when this restriction will be removed?

You can still kind of do that if you want to see nicer beaches for the day without having to rent a car. A lot of people take the ferry to Isla, than get a golf cart and tour the island for the day. You can walk to the ferry from TTR, and depart like every half hour.

It's part of the traffic light phasing system Red, Orange, Yellow, Green. This is reviewed weekly, we're currently Orange. When it shifts to Yellow beaches will reopen
