ok last year before we went to Temptation for the first time, people were saying how bad the disco loud music was all the time, but when we were there, (March 3rd -9th) We were pleasantly surprised by a band that was there the 2nd or 3rd night and specialized in Classic rock, especially AC/DC, and they were better than a lot of cover bands in the states. very pleasantly surprised, just wondering if that is something they are still doing from time to time?
I hope they come back , read they got a permanent gig somewhere they never recently had ''''Disco'' at patios,,,,,, , they must have hired better dj's cause the music negative reviews have disappeared
Band plays PatyOs every Tuesday night, right after Kaoroke at Nice Shoes is finished. (Which is about 10-10:30 ish.)
Well that's great news for them they deserve it that lead singer sounded identical to ac/dc's lead singer they did an absolutely great cover for all the old ac/dc then they would go to the other end of the spectrum and do excellent covers for Journey, Rolling stones, and Aerosmith along with many classic rock stuff. They will be missed, but just glad there is still a band once a week!! 5 weeks..............not that im counting or anything! :lotsofmichaelfs:
It was the same band, you are referring to, as of Dec 30. They played PatyOs that night and should still be there every Tuesday. if you are interested they play harder sets of tunes at the Black Pub in the City on Friday and Saturday nights. The name of the band is The Wholliganz and they start about midnight and play 4hrs at the pub. there is some clips of them on youtube. They also play DesireRM on Mondays and Le Blanc on Wednesdays If you are a travelling musician, and feeling the itch, they generally will let you sit in for a song or two. If you are really good you may end up playing the whole set. a bunch of really nice guys (5 piece) who have been together for about 15 yrs and have become legendary on the Cancun rock circuit.
We sure enjoyed them when they played out by the sexy pool around Halloween. It was a very welcomed break from the same old mind numbing music.
I was pretty sad that I passed out and missed them on my last trip (my tequila destruction day). But now hearing the will let people play, it is probably a really good thing. I defiantly would have asked to jump on the kit for a song. But any more than 6 beers and my 3 year old son is better. I would have just embarrassed myself.
Thanks for enjoying that....that was a favour to HnH and took a lot of effort to arrange. it was special. And it was an especially cool afternoon. Fireball and real Rock!!!! an awesome FBF! the prior weeks of October it was a different band on the Sexy Pool deck. (Not as good) I have been promised a repeat performance on Halloween day this year. Next time your there ask Ren, the drummer if you can sit in. At PatyOs, they sometimes let ppl play, but are wary of an avalanche of requests from amateurs. if you ask before they start playing your odds are better and you may play. However if you go to the Black Pub, you will play, especially if you wanna play a cool intricate metal tune....just ask.
