My wife and I took our 23rd anniversary trip to TTR Cabo. Just as way of background, we had been to TTR Cancun twice (last time 4 years ago). Not to sound pretentious, but we normally go to higher end resorts (Excellence, Adventura Palace, Couples Resort, Grand Lido's, Ritz, etc.) But, we were trying to save money and frankly, the last two years we went to Excellence in Cancun and while it is very good quality, it is very laid back with lots of shy honeymooners. So, we were ready to let our hair down a bit. We had low expectations and thus, we were not too disappointed. The flight from Dallas was great. Cabo is so much easier getting out of the airport than Cancun. Took a hired car to resort. Got there about noon and room wasn't ready. Restaurant was closed, so we wandered a bit. Got lunch at noon. By 1:30 room still not ready and would take another 1.5 - 2 hours. I expressed my disappointment and Jesus came over and offered to put set us up with a member bed and encouraged us to hit the pool, which we did. Jesus was just great all three days. We were ready for lack of quality on food, but what was disappointing was lack of choice. The outdoor grill by the pool was closed for renovations. The oriental restaurant was open only 1 of our 3 nights. The buffet was o.k., but not great for 3 straight nights. So, the second night I made a reservation at Hacienda Cocina at Hacienda Beach Club, it was fantastic. The third night a couple at the resort recommended Silver Seas, just down the road. It was also incredible. Neither restaurant was cheap, but it was nice to get a great meal and great bottle of wine. The room was o.k. The entire hotel needs updating. Most things were worn out. Our toilet lid would not stay up so if you are going to pee standing up, you had to hold it (mild pet peeve of mine). We had a Jacuzzi suite (Room 157) and location was just awesome. Literally walked out the room and was at the pool. We did use the Jacuzzi as well. The Jacuzzi suite was worth it in my opinion if for no other reason the location. Like others have mentioned, the t.v. had a fuzzy picture much of the time. The porn channel was stuck on a loop featuring not very good porn of about 3 scenes. The pool was good, but it was so hot, you had to be in the water or in the shade. We learned quickly to get a chair with an umbrella. I thought the bar tenders did a good job and the drinks were not strong, but I was drinking rum and diet cokes the whole time and it didn't bother me. My wife enjoyed the Pina Coladas. The bar staff was good. The pool servers also were good and very friendly. There was a very large number of topless and my wife felt very comfortable topless and in very small thongs. Best part was entertainment staff. We thought they did a great job of providing some fun things to do without being overly pushy. It also was not near as raunchy as Cancun. So, it depends on your preference there. Nightly entertainment was decent. First night was jacuzzi party. Second, was lingerie and the third "chocalate night". Each was pretty tame. They show music videos on big screens. We are not late nighters, so we were in bed by midnight each night. We didn't see, hear or even sense any swingers. But, we did meet some really nice couples from all over. The guests were just great and for the first two days about our age (40's). The last day some younger couples came in. But, in our opinion, the people made it worth while. By the time we arrived in Dallas, my wife was breaking out from something. She thinks maybe the detergent used to clean the sheets. By the next day I was experiencing some rough intestinal issues. Not sure I can blame that all on resort as we did eat off resort and I ate on the plane, but it has not been pleasant. Worst parts - so blazing hot (not resort's fault) and lack of food choices. Would we go back. I doubt it. It was fun and we enjoyed our time. But if we had gone with high expectations, we would have been severely disappointed. On our way out we met a couple in the transport who were there for their honeymoon and had such a horrible experience, they asked to be transferred. They were Cancun regulars and felt Cabo was no where near the standard.
