Just looking for some basics...sketch pad, a variety of drawing pencils, maybe some watercolors and pastels. Coming in from Isla Mujeres...don't know my way around Cancun very well...so specific locations are greatly appreciated. Thanks Tom
Go up Ave Uxmal, behind the bus station 2 blocks. Cross the street and head down the 2nd Margaritas street (it is one way and loops around). Just a little way down you will see Cancun Paperia or something like that on the left. It is a huge art supply store. Once inside don’t miss the other floors as it is easy to do. Make your way to the left and go down the “hall”. This opens up to stairs and other floors. http://www.cancunfirstclass.com/cancun-hotel-zone-5-map-eng.asp
Pretty close LTL. Papeleria Cancun is the name and it has entrances from both Margaritas, running south off Uxmal, one running in each direction. There is parking at or beside the store on both sides of the store. If coming from Coba, the streets are called Alcatraces and they are right after Tulum and before Yaxchilan, the first one at the corner where El Tacolote is located. Another way for pedestrians is to get to Parque Las Palapas and either walk toward the bus station from La Habichuela or on the opposite side of the park, from the church. A great store. Art supplies on the ground floor and if they don't have it, you don't need it. Upstairs they even have sewing things, buttons, etc. Also tons of arts and crafts, books, school and childrens books, gift wrapping material and more. I bought some dried flower things to stick in a vase as a cool decoration. Maps of all sorts, including the best local map I have found, Punto Mapa. It is in a binder with a separate page for each Super Manzana, plus a pull out page of all of Cancun so you can narrow down your directions. $85 pesos and under the gumball machine by where you pay, aka Cajas.
Thanks for the replies. Sounds like it's just what I'm looking for. And thanks for the specifics on the locale...I even found a pic of where it is and what it looks like on Google Maps.
