Are there any celebrations like Mardi Gras in Cancun?

How much is Carnaval like Mardi Gras? Is there anything similar?

 

Carnaval is Mardi Gras, and yes there are celebrations here. Parades, bead sharing, the night clubs do it up big.

 

How is compared to New Orleans?

Well, we do have a hopping, rocking Pat O'Brien's. Flaming Hurricanes too. Nothing like N.O. but IMHO it is tons of fun. A big beer is $90 / $12 so about $7.50 USD, including tax but NOT including tip. I don't know the price of the Hurricanes, except the real one, Wilma, that totaled my car in 2005. Our Mexican Katrina and as bad as it was, N.O. also had the biggest and baddest storm. Sort of like Mardi Gras. Ja Ja (Sp for LOL)
