Sorry if this is a repeat! My search wasn't very efficient. For all the cash posts, are people talking about USD or pesos that they are giving? We want to guess pesos since not all the visitors are Americans so wouldn't make sense to be referring to USD but we also don't want to seem like cheap a$$es when we are there!

We use USD for tipping and Peso's for shopping, especially at the gift shop at TTR...really lousy exchange rate. Someone can correct me if I am way off but the rough exchange rate is $1 USD = 12 Peso.

There are several threads on tipping...who, when, how much etc.

The general exchange rate you will get from merchants or taxis etc if you want to pay directly in USD is usually only 1 USD = 10 Pesos.

I'm bringing tip money and shopping money in Peso's. I'm bringing Boobs Cruise money in USD. I'm also gonna bring an extra $50-$100 in small denomination USD as 'just in case' money.

I was talking to TD Canada Trust and they won't take Peso's back so whatever I get I have to spend down there. Probably not going to be a problem LOL
