Didnt hear of one problem during the 10 days I was there from April 10 to the 19th. I did see that the USA upped its travel advisory when I returned though, however they have warned about this topic for years and Ive been going to Cancun every year since 2001 and ive never had a problem or even heard of a problem, ive had more issues with tourists then I have with natives, As long as you dont put yourself in harms way or involve yourself with it, you should be fine and dont let the advisories ruin a vacation I make a good chaperone also, if you would feel safer lol

Exactly, Like Dan said your safe pretty much every where down, Just use common sense and stay where the people are, just like with any city, like cleveland, im sure you have your bad areas and streets you wouldnt want to go on. Just use the same precautions on vacation.. and being a female, id travel with the buddy system anyway.. and thats more for the drunk tourists you may encounter then any thing else. Cancun is one of the safest places ive visited

most issues you'll hear about are along the US Mexico border... The closest thing I've had to an issue is being offered drugs at market 28. A simple no and they go away.
