Sparkey and I just started looking to buy a house. And now we are through our first day I was wondering if there are other house hunters out there to chat with? What a crazy process this can be! Katie
Amen, sister. T and I almost got started building a house in a planned community, but got buyers' remorse once we found the city and the builder were in court arguing about drainage issues. Missed out on our dream house, but settled on a smaller/older/more affordable home closer to our jobs. Probably the best thing for us, as T changed jobs twice since we moved in. We'll end up in a newer, larger home when the knee-biters are old enough to have their own rooms.
It does sound like a smart move for you now. Good luck in getting the newer bigger home! I think it is nice having some space. We saw a house today that we spent a good amount time at and liked a lot. Then our agent got a call from the seller's agent. She said the owner knows we were there awhile. I guess we were being watched while we were there. Weird! And then went on to tell him that the owner has two offers. I guess to see what we want to do. Of course we want Sparkey's kids to see it before we proceed, so we are waiting to see if we can go back to it tomorrow. Our thought is if it doesn't happen this time there will always be others. It is only our first day out. Just interesting to go through this process. Katie
If your agent showed you the house, the electronic lock box records the amount of time and the agent who showed the place. Cool tools these agents have.
Now is not the time to be buying a house in the USA. Wait until the mortgage market implodes in a short time and the repo's pile up, THEN buy.
That is interesting and makes sense. What led us to believe they were looking at us was the fact there were two cars in the driveway and no one home. And the lock box was partially open. We are going back tonight to see the house with Sparkey's kids. We'll see what they think. Katie
Actually here in Chicago things are turning and folks are selling lots. So it is turning out to be a buyers market and not a sellers. Katie
Best of luck in your search for your home :!: :!: :!: Look at at least a dozen berore you decide on THE ONE :!:
Buy what you can afford, without working any overtime and without putting most of your paycheck into a mortgage. I know sooooooo many people who build these beautiful, big, new homes but can't afford them. I much prefer a smaller, less expensive house, with plenty of money left over for lots of vacations !
