We did that on our honeymoon, and we loved it. It was alot of fun and there was alot to see. Definitly bring or wear your bathing suits. We booked it through Apple vacations only because that is who we booked our trip with but in every resort lobby area there will be people there to book excursions for you.

Smiley and I did the Tulum / Xel-Ha combination day-trip about 7 years ago on our honeymoon. We were staying in the Mayan Riviera area, so the bus rides to/from the attractions were long. However, the combination trip was excellent and even with some tropical-storm weather, the views, scenery, and beauty of both areas was impressive to say the least.

We found the best fish (quantity and variety) at Xel-Ha to be way across the lagoon near the floating bridge on the other side from the main buildings/area. It's a bit of a swim but its worth it!
