Greetings from freezing cold Ottawa, Canada! We will be visiting Cancun pueblo for 5 weeks Jan/Feb and will require the services of an Ophthalmologist.....I've looked at Hospital websites and just did a general search in Google and cannot find any info. Anyone ever require this service and/or can help us out locating a reputable one in the area? Thank you in advance.............
http://www.perfectvisioncancun.com/cirujanos_en.php Perfect Vision is a state-of-the-art facility. Dr. Alcoser is a personal acquiescent. You can check out his CV on the website. Plus he speaks perfect English. If you're speaking of corrective procedures like interocular lens replacement for cataracts or laser vision correction, the facility is state-of-the-art and the costs are considerably less than the US. I can't speak of Canada. Prior to meeting Dr. Alcoser, I had cataract surgery performed in the US. Even with my excellent medical coverage, because of certain options in lens choices that I made, I would have saved money by paying out of pocket in Cancun. It really depends on what service you need. The major vision chain down here is Delvyn, with lots of locations, all totally incompetent and unreliable. Caveat Emptor. If I might ask, what would you need that you couldn't manage in Canada before you get here?
My husband has had cornea transplants and glaucoma surgery and is watched very closely. His glaucoma surgery has recently failed and his glaucoma has returned. Unfortunately he does require constant monitoring and medication adjustments depending on pressure readings. If we had not already planned our trip to Cancun we probably would have waited until things settled down. His eye specialist here said that we shud be able to find a specialist in Cancun to check his eye 2 or 3 times while we are there over the 5 week period and make necessary med adjustments.....so we really need a Dr to just check the pressure and hopefully not need any procedures. In Canada a optometrist can check the pressure but cannot prescribe or change medications. A cornea or glaucoma specialist would be ideal. I will check out the link you posted above. Thank you.
