CASE CLOSED - Any Argentinian Malbec Experts Out There??

WELL, I MUST BE THE GOOFBALL TODAY. THE WINE I WAS LOOKING FOR HAS NOT AN "F" IN ITS NAME. IT IS A 2007 ARGENTINIAN MALBEC CALLED SOTTANO, AGAIN $336 MXN AT LA EUROPEA. THE GAL WHO HELPED ME THE OTHER DAY WITH THE PURCHASE WAS THERE TODAY AND REMEMEBERED.

INTERESTING, SHE ALSO RECOMMENDED ANOTHER BRAND, A 2009 ARGENTINIAN MALBEC, THAT IS ONLY $69 AND SHE TOLD ME THE TASTE IS NEARLY IDENTICAL. THE FRIENDS WHERE ALL THIS WINE WENT DOWN LAST WEEK HAD TOLD ME THE EXACT SAME THING. THIS IS CALLED LAS MORAS. WE DRANK SOME OF BOTH BUT WERE MORE CONCERNED WITH THE ROAST DUCK, HOME MADE FLAT BREAD, POTATOES FRIED IN DUCK FAT, ETC.

I BOUGHT A BOTTLE OF EACH AND WILL POST A NEW THREAD WITH COMMENTS WHEN I HAVE MY OWN TASTE TEST.

THANKS TO ALL MY FRIENDS WHO REPLIED AND JABBED ME OFF THE FORUM, FOR YOUR HELP AND FOR NOT PUBLICALLY IN FRONT OF ALL CANCUN LOVERS.

    CHEERS,
    T.J.

    ORIGINAL POST -
I drank this wine the other day and it was beyond incredible. $336 (pesos, of course, so call it hi $20's US) at La Europea. Went back to get more and there was none. The shelf where it was located had changed completely. I felt like I was in The Twilight Zone or that La Europea was punking me, but it was neither.

To make it worse, I cannot remember the exact name but it started with F, had only 5 or 6 letters, white label.

Something like Fiori, Fioni, Fionte - I am drawing a total blank and the clerk was of no help with my ingorance. Folks, this is why we have cameras in our cell phones; so we don't forget important things like this. And I am even sure it was a 2006 and of course Argentinian. The clerk could not deal with my stupidity, but that is another story.

Does anyone have a clue on this brand? I have no clue if it is marketed in the US but thought this post was worth a try. Dougout knows everthing so I am sure he will report in.

    Thanks a bunch,
