Hey, Just a quick question...I'm VERY hesitant to use a real credit card to purchase the weekly wifi. Does anybody know if any type of prepaid card might word? Or if cash is an option? I thought I read that to get the $35ish dollar rate that you needed to do the transaction online. Can someone confirm? Nikki
When we were there in June they had machines that took cash for a wi-fi card. The cost was twenty dollars for a day. The service was spotty unless you were close to the lobby.
Our last trip, we used our CC for the wifi, and had no issues. Used it in the gift shop as well, no issues. Used it at the pay phone, no issues, except for the ungodly long distance rates they charged. Avoid that. like a 35 dollar connection fee or something along that line.
The company that you purchase the WiFi through online is located in San Diego if that is any consolation. We've used them twice and have had no issues. I can't see why a prepaid VISA wouldn't work.
We bought it from on of the machines on the wall 200 pesos for 24 hours. We will do that again if the prepaid card doesn't work. I was just thinking $35 bucks for the week vs. $18 for 24 hours lol we had an ok connection. We were able to skype/FaceTime with home etc.
We just used it about 2 weeks ago and I believe they are using a new company now (but still from the US). Service was much better than before. I'd avoid the machines as you're paying a pretty high fee for 1 day of service. Just connect to the "Temptation" wifi access point and launch your browser on your phone/laptop/tablet. It will direct you to a website and ask for credit card/address information.
We've had good luck with the rooms off PatyO's with no problems. I do know that in the buffet service is horrible. Outside by the sexy pool seems pretty good though...
It's true as a premier member we've enjoyed the "free" wi-fi while we were down there it was spotty at best. Think out of the week we were there we logged on a total of 45 minutes an hour at the most and that was pretty much to e-mail everyone to let them know we had arrived safe contacted them midweek to let them know how great the weather was and then again just prior to leaving the resort so they knew we'd be home shortly. We live by the rule we're on vacation the stuff to see is by the sexy pool and I can live without everything else for a week.
I signed up for the Wifi in our room using a credit card ( I had put in a travel notice with them before we left the USA ) and it was easy and quick to do... Went to Temptation web site ... hit the link and it did the rest , just try a prepaid Credit Card and if it does not work then U might decide to use a regular Credit Card... I would notify your credit card company in advance ... it cannot hurt... The 35 usd for 7 days Wifi service was great for us...One thing, the 35 usd Wifi service is good for One device only... Have fun...
