Further to another thread recently about inappropriate use of the PM system and unwelcome solicitations/propositions another person just got banned - Joejoes. This person has been a member for 2 weeks, has sent scores of PM's to random people but has not made a single post on the forum. I have had 4 separate complaints now about him, so I know what he is up to. What he does is send PM's to multiple couples complimenting them on their avatar and asking if they are into single guys. He uses an avatar picture of a very good looking young guy to try and initiate sexual chat, and for anyone that takes the bait he will go on to ask for sexual pics to be sent to him by email. Please do not send any pics to such people. Best case it is a 50 yr old guy in his Mom's basement looking for jerk off material. Worst case it is a picture collector who could repost the pics elsewhere online. There are whole forums devoted to this, where they get high fives from others who admire their deception skills - if they are successful here and brag about it then more will come. In the very worst case they could even use pictures for blackmail or extortion if they search your real life out online, which is often not difficult. We had a case last year, an apparently female member here did similar. 'She' posted sexy pics in an album and then contacted guys to initiate sexy chat and they made plans for sex at the hotel. Several guys responded, one even paid for her place on the Boobs Cruise. Of course, once 'her' dates came around no one ever saw her at the hotel and she never showed for the Boobs Cruise. I looked into it and the IP address showed she was based in Nigeria. Please be aware that there are lots of weirdos and pervs out there in Internet land, and it's impossible for me to stop them registering here. The only thing I can do is deal with a situation once it arises. Please ignore any PM's from people who have not already made themselves visible publicly on the forum like genuine members do, and preferably report them to me.
Thanks Steve. I remember rbrit85 or something like that from last year. It is a good point you make. Sometimes they come on pretending to be available single ladies so don't fall for that side of the scam either! The first alarm should always be the inquiry for pics. That means run!
I knew there were pic collectors out there, but had no idea there were forums, or that it was a form of 'sport'. Sick. That's one of the reasons we changed our profile name to no longer reference our first names. Unfortunately there are a great many posts which do reference our names, and nothing we can do about that. Thanks for this heads-up Steve. You are a terrific owner/moderator.
