After going to Temptations the last 2 years we have decided this year to do something different and try Jamaica this year. Question: Has anyone here from the United States booked a resort through Alpharooms because of the ridiculous difference in prices, then be charged the "U.S. price" by the resort once you start to check in? I read that happens. The price differece Im looking at right now is $1000 difference between booking in the U.S., and booking through Alpharooms. Thanks.
We have booked Temptations 3 times using Alpharooms without ever having a problem. We have also found them to be consistantly cheaper than anyone else we looked at. Be sure when looking at your quote you request the price to be in US dollars because the default is pounds.
It was in US dollars. I have read on here someone saying that "some" resorts will try and charge you the "US" price (difference in what you actually paid and what you would have paid on a website like Expedia) when you check in. Not Temptations, but others. I just wish there was a way to find out for sure because the price difference is HUGE!
It probably depends on individual hotel policy, it's not an Alpharooms thing. I think BostonMel mentioned it regarding Hedo. I use Alpharooms 9 times out of 10 wherever we book hotels. So far we have used them in Mexico, UK, France and Spain. Then again I'm a Brit, using a UK credit card and address.
Steve - it's not really anything to do with Alpharooms(or for that matter any other UK or Euro zone agency) or what currency you paid them in. If you can't present a British or Euro zone passport, Hedo and and many other Jamaica AI resorts have a policy that they will charge you the difference at check in time between what you paid via the TA or online shop in the UK or Euro zone and the standard published rates for North America. If you refuse to pay the difference they won't allow you to check in....
I can only comment on what I know for sure(which are the policies for some Jamaican resorts, wrt booking via UK Euro agencies). Just make sure you do your own due diligence for elsewhere :icon_neutral:
