Alcohol Limitations for U.S. Citizens

As far as I know, each U.S. citizen is allowed to bring 3 liters of alcohol with them when entering Mexico in a checked bag. Is this information still accurate for those of you who have recently traveled to Temptation?

 

I went in Jan and that is how much I brought and had no problems but I didn't get the stop light and I am bringing another 3 in May.

 

Greg, did you bring 3 bottles that were 1 liter each, or something different? This is important, JJ's jello shots are dependent upon your answer, not to mention Kristin goes through a 1.75 liter of Fireball very quickly, and we will need A LOT of flavored vodka for the perfect jello shots, thanks!

Good question. Also....What are some packing tips for those? Bubble wrap and zip locks? Bring plastic bottles? We're also thinking about bringing something down this year. Never have before. Thanks

 

You would want to use the plastic 750 mL bottles. And then put each one in a good ziplock. I just want to clarify that each person can bring 3 liters, which would be four 750 mL bottles...correct?

 

If we can't get plastic bottles we use fine bubble wrap and ZipLock gallon freezer bags. Tape the bubble wrap tight to the bottles and use one bottle per bag. Good to go.

 

Those were 3 liter bottles been bring that few times I have been there. Rumpleminz has thick glass. Hey try to get 3 1.75 bottles in I think they would just make you give up one or pour out to make it three

 

I just make sure there is a lot of cloths between the bottles to make sure they don't bang together and strapped down tight with the cloths.

 

You can also buy up to 3 bottles, per person in duty free when flying into Mexico from the US. I had two bottles bubble wrapped in my checked bags when I went on the trip earlier this month. And then on our layover in Texas we bought another 3 each in Duty Free.
