An Aeromexico flight was hijacked after leaving Cancun. Landed safely in Mexico city. All passengers were released.

Hijackers were demanding to speak with Calderone.

There was live coverage on the news here. The 3 men were arrested and no one was hurt from what I gathered.

I never heard what the motives were though (other than speaking to Calderon or plane goes boom.)

    for what its worth:

MEXICO CITY – An airplane was briefly hijacked as it landed in Mexico City on Wednesday from the resort of Cancun, but all passengers and crew were released unharmed, officials said. Television images showed police leading at least five men from the plane in handcuffs. Mexican news media reported the hijackers were Bolivian citizens demanding to speak with Mexican President Felipe Calderon.

Transportation and Communications Secretary Juan Molinar said all passengers and crew were safe, but would not say how many alleged hijackers were detained or give details of their motivation.

"Various people who participated in the act have been detained and we are investigating," he said.

He said there was no bomb on the airplane, although some passengers said one of the hijackers held a package that resembled an explosive device.

Passenger Rocio Garcia told the Televisa network that the crew made an announcement that the airplane was being hijacked once they landed in Mexico City.

The hijacker was one guy- Bolivian born but had been living in Mexico for many years. He said he had a revelation from God that something bad (maybe an earthquake) was going to happen to Mexico- thats why he needed to speak to Calderon.
BBC news reports that he told flight attendants that he had 3 accompllices. The father, the son and the holy ghost (I kid you not!!!)
    Poor guy is obvioulsy unwell.
Its great that it all ended peacefully , no one hurt and maybe , hopefully this guy will get some help.
