HI EVERYONE, WE WILL BE GOING ON OUR FIRST TRIP JULY 1ST AND I WAS WONDERING WHAT LEVEL OF SUN BLOCK WE MIGHT NEED. IM VERY PALE AND DO NOT TAN NATURALLY. I REALLY DONT WANT TO BLISTER AND RUIN OUR TRIP. THANKS FOR ANY ADVICE TAMMY
Go with 45 or higher and apply often...don't forget the ears and feet......we tan fairly well and we still get pink the first few days....Really like the Banana Boat Sport Spray...seems to last longer in and out of the water and will not leave a crusty film like the Coppertone spray IMHO...
Tammy..U can maybe try a spray on tan to get a little color so your not too pale. I believe most tanning salon have that service. Have fun at Temptations. It's tons of fun and you get to meet GREAT people...Remember first stop is the " SEXY POOL "....
Take it from me...I don't tan much either! Use 70 SPF!!! and take a long sleeved cover up! I know, it's no fun, but neither is blisters! Even using the 70, I managed to burn and rather than make it worse, I stayed in the shade (of an umbrella at the sexy pool) and wore a long-sleeved, long-tailed shirt while in the pool. The sun block and water ruins the shirt, so make sure it's not one that you want to wear anywhere but there. I also bought a man's large shirt as a change. If you're planning on baring the boobies, make sure you keep applying the sunblock....burnt boobies really hurt!!! I'm going to try to pre-tan before going again in September to see if that helps! Cheers, Janice *Edit: And make sure you wear a hat!!!
A good hat is key, plus from the reports I've read.. anything above SPF 45 really doesn't make a lot of difference. And suprisingly 2 coats of 15 protected better than one coat of 70... so get something you like.. and apply generously and often.
Also try to stay out of the sun as much as possible during the worst hours for burning (like 11-2); there's shade at the bar at the sexy pool, umbrellas around, etc. Eat lunch in that time frame too. Once in a while someone gets a really bad burn on day 1 and ruins their vacation; don't do that!
Janice, In Jamaica you really started developing a nice tan, so you have a good start, just keep it going and we will see you in September!!
Um, yep Dave...did you forget we live in Ottawa? What sun there might be seems to only come out on weekdays when I'm at work!!! And of course, as the summer progresses, I can't tan all of the areas that I did in Jamaica...our neighbours are just too close! Really!?! I didn't know that!!! That might be the reason I burn even though I use SPF 60 - 70!
