As we get closer to our 7th trip to BBG/TTR, we are thinking about our check-in experience last year and what we can do to avoid that experience. Upon arrival, all we want to do is get our suits on and head to the sexy pool. Most years, we have avoided the people at the desk but last year they would not let us get away. They wanted to sell us something. Not interested. Last year was also the first year our room was not ready upon arrival. After listening to the salesman and telling him again that we were not interested, I confessed that I was upset that I could not get a room upon arrival. The dude went in back and amazingly found a clean Jacuzzi room. He insisted that we attend the meeting the next morning since he found us a room. Of course, we were not going to attend the meeting. We got our room and quickly changed into our suits. We got to the pool, I took off my cover-up and turned around. The dude was right behind me. I was startled and he continued to talk to us about what he was selling while I stood there in my Malibu Strings suit. UGH! We missed the meeting and he kept calling. He even reminded us how he got us the room early. Really.

How do you (if you are not already Premier) avoid the sales people? We do not need a map, a rundown of the restaurants or entertainment schedules. We do not want to be rude (at least I do not) but we also do not want to waste time listening to a spiel.

What time of day do you typically arrive?

When we stay we usually go during busy periods, arriving about mid day and our room is typically not ready until 2 or maybe 3pm. We just leave our bags with the bellboys and then head off. The sales staff tend to know from previous experience we are not interested so generally ignore us.

this will be my 8th time to Temptation/blue bay and I also have the same concern !
a couple years ago I got the same guy that checked me in the pervious year and he recognized me ! I asked him to not send me over to that desk . he called the bell boy over and we went right to the room. best check in ever. last year there was no getting around it I just said not interested not doing it . it still took 20 min and a few days later the same sales woman found me talking to Borris at the sports pool and continued trying to sell me and wanted to walk me around the resort . any tips would be helpful

They came up to us as well last year when we got there and I simply said, "'I'm not interested in a membership or time share, or whatever it is", before they mentioned that's what they are up to.....in the nicest way possible, and that was that......It may have helped too that once we got our room, we unplugged the phone.

When you get there, maybe ask for a manager right off the bat at the desk and say that you were really unhappy last year how you were treated in that aspect and you would appreciate if it didn't happen again. Even though we didn't go through that, I think I may do that anyways to avoid it

Check out is 12, Check in is 3pm.

If you arrive after 3pm all rooms from people checking out that day should already be cleaned and ready for new guests. If you arrive before 12 then rooms wont be ready (unless some rooms weren't occupied the night before, or people check out very early). If you arrive between 12 and 3 then they may have a room ready, they may not.

For the pre timeshare sales desk, go there if you want to. If you don't want to don't. You have paid to stay in the hotel and once you are checked in you spend your time how you want to. No one needs to be rude but if you're not interested just say so with a smile, say 'not interested thanks' and walk on without stopping.

We stayed at the Golden Parnassus the first week of December, and had heard all of these stories. I was probably a little rude, as they didn't check us in at the front desk, and instead had us around the corner, at some tables int he lobby.

As it turned out they were just being polite, gave us some info, wristbands, a couple drinks, and we were on our way.

Being hassled for something you know you don't want would be very annoying.

Even though we hadn't I always say I already took the tour and presentation so I already know it isn't right for us and we are not interested. If they are rude and still push then I have always planned to be rude back and tell them why it is not a good deal for me. It has never gotten to that point. Be direct when you say you are not interested. Look them in the eyes and emphasize NOT.

My GF has a membership, but I have zero desire to become one. Will I have to listen to them? I have to listen to sales reps a lot at work and don't have a problem saying no or getting rid of them. I'd just rather not deal with it.

Did you pay extra for your jacuzzi room, or did you get that free? If the guy managed to get you a free upgrade to a jacuzzi room and an early check in (before 3pm), then if it was me I would've taken the tour out of courtesy.
