Someone, long time ago, asked me if I had read this book and I had said not yet but was planning on doing so soon......well my soon was finally this past weekend since there was nothing much else to do besides watch the snow fall. I have to say, this book was amazing, I dont care if this guy lied, fabricated whatever in this book......I did NOT put it down, it was just that good. I have also just recently read....Memory Keepers Daughter and Pursuit of Happyness if anyone wants to throw in their two cents on those also.
A guy who hits rock bottom and his story from that time and through rehab.....it was plastered all over TV at first for being bestseller, Oprah book and just plain excellently written.....then people started digging and finding out that the guy only did less than a day in jail not months, and certain other little discrepencies making it obviously like a memoir or fiction not the almighty boasted non-fiction that the guy made it out to be. Its about his six week stint in rehab and its incredible.
i had heard about this book.......question for y'all - did the guy pretend it was true in the first place?
Oh yeah, he was on a huge book tour and Oprah was singing his praises all over the damn place. He was on all the newschannels, talk shows, etc.... then someone called him out and he had to run around retracting and such. Quite a circus about something that in the greater scheme of things does not matter much at all. It's a book, and a from all accounts a fascinating read.
I agree, a book is a book, I dont have the time nor energy to start a book and read right through to the finish, but this one I could not put down.
