Any ideas about how to secure a sex swing in one of the rooms down there? Keep in mind there are alot of limitations. -most of the building is concrete -can't damage the place -can't bring a frame or any real tools -any supplies will have to be easy to pack I have one idea for in the room and one for on the patio that only use rope. Both are imperfect solutions. The only thing that is a plus are tall ceiling heights in the rooms. If a simple solution is come up with it would be able to quickly be moved to a different room.
I don't know Mike, a rope & a balcony/patio sounds kinda dangerous for a bunch of drunks like us.:icon_eek:
Its not like I am trying to be irresponsible here. If I wanted to be irresponsible I would just make up a plate before I leave and have the driver stop off at home depot so I could buy a ramset. The easy way would be to just nail it to the concrete ceiling:icon_biggrin: Now I am wondering, if I packed 2 strips of plywood 6" by 30" with a hole in the middle for an eyehook how much duct tape would it take to hold the X to the ceiling... http://www.octanecreative.com/ducttape/walltapings/images/dttammy1.jpg
Duct tape is indeed our friend! I have used "Hurricane Tape" before in some rigging the only thing is that it would likely pull off not only the paint but the plaster and more than likely some of the concrete...LOL I wonder if Home Depot would rent a hammer drill and use a lead shield and eye hook...just a small hole
Didn't think of that.. I have one and could bring the bit then buy and return the drill. I am looking for something elegant though, I have one idea that would only use about 6' of rope. Here it is, tie a knot in a length of rope and place it over the door to the room. Close the door. Do the same with the other end and the bathroom door. Hang the swing. The problem with this is that it isn't really high enough and your stuck in the hallway.
To use it on the balcony you need a willing accomplice from the floor above. Most of the balconies have a railing of some sort, just tie the rope in a large loop around their railing. You have the ability to disconnect it just by untieing it and pulling it thru. You can adjust it to center on the balcony by using anothe rope with the door trick, this may also work to get it over the bed. A couple of downsides are that you need an willing participant from the floor upstairs. What if you are on the top floor? Anyone have adjustments or improvements? Whole other ideas? A balcony show with a swing would be something not seen before I suspect...
If you are going to use the closed door for a support or tie off, you would be better using a nylon web strap then the door will close, rope won't close in the door unless it is like 1/4", then support and stretch is an issue. If you were to get some 25 foot, ratchet tie down straps that might work for one line, the other cross could be done by perhaps using props like a bed rail or something....though I do suspect that this problem could be better resolved after a few too many cocktails...
Most rooms have something of a hallway in them... Thinking something like the old style chin-up bars they you would put in doorways. It expanded to reach both side and then was secure enough to lift on. Another idea is a tripod. There has to be some telescoping set up that is available that would be high and strong enough... but pack small enough... Or... or.. pay attention Steve... someone down there goes into the rental business.. no local competition.. word of mouth could boom business... just rent the stand, people have to supply their own swings so nothing to "clean-up" between rentals.. Simple to build because you’re not worried about getting it on the airplane. Easy transactions in the parking lot. Large deposit in case folks leave town without returning it or if they break it… Hmmmm…. :bunny: If you do this Steve I get a cut for the idea.... Jamie
