I wanted to let people know the process of booking through dhr.com, which is a link on this site under the TTR hotel deals. I used Steve's link and found the best price for my trip. It said "instant confirmation" on the site, so I booked it. I then got this in an email :
"We will check with Temptation Resort & Spa All Inclusive to see if the rooms you requested are available. You will receive a response within 5 hours excluding weekends. If your requested accommodations are available, we will send your voucher to your e-mail address."

The email said I would find out in 5 hours, my confirmation page on the site said it would take 24 to 48 hours. I was not happy about having to wait and see before I booked my airfare. I never got an email from dhr.com, but when checking my account page on their site today, I see my reservation has been changed from "requested" to "cancelled". I called them up asking why it was cancelled, and the guy checked and said it was cancelled automatically. I don't think "it was cancelled automatically" is a reason, but that's what I was told. I am not saying that dhr.com is good or bad, but I wanted to share my experience. Even if the reservation had been made by them, I do not like the fact that you have to wait 2 days to find out.

Send Steve a PM letting him know, he may be able to get you a more solid answer.

    That doesn't sound very good.

If I remember correctly I added them after a few good reports some time back, but I'll remove their link if they are messing people about.

Anyone else had good or bad experiences with them?

I also booked our upcoming trip through dhr. I had used them before for the best price with no problems. However, this time the transaction went through right away (just like last time) so I went ahead and booked my flights through the airline but the next morning, about 18 hrs later I got an email from dhr that my reservation had been cancelled due to lack of availability. Fortunately I was able to book the same dates at a slightly higher cost through alpha rooms and my credit card transaction was reversed immediately. Crisis averted but I won't use them again due to the fact that they confirmed and charged my reservation only to cancel it the next day.

This is the reason I didn't like them; you have to give them your credit card and then wait a day or two before you even find out if you get the room or not. At least you got an email from them, I never even got that.

This is what is says when you book TTR through them:

hotel available for instant confirmation - confirmed immediately.

After you actually book it, they tell you it will be 24-48 hours before your room is confirmed.

Are the prices better than alpha rooms maybe a better site to book for trips far in advance.

My 2 cents on booking through DHR travel.
On the website they appear to be a legitimate company (and may very well be), but my recent experience makes me think differently.
When you first do your lodging search and it presents the results, they say “available with immediate confirmation”. Somewhere further in the process that timeframe turns into 5 hours.
At that time I did a few searches on CCC to see if they were legit since I had recently read posts on this subject, but couldn’t recall what company was involved. The forum search for “DHR” delivered no results so I thought maybe it was safe. After all I wasn’t going to be travelling until October and I somehow justified the inconvenience and extra wait in my mind.
After you enter your payment info it then reads “may take 24-48 hours for confirmation”.
After waiting 72 hours and not receiving an email confirmation I ended up calling them on a Friday. The man said that they were working on it and to call back on Monday and I agreed to. In the meantime that weekend I searched the CCC forum one topic at a time. Voila! I found the thread with some people that experienced exactly what I was currently going through.
I call DHR on Monday evening to cancel my request and even though they hadn’t supplied me with any sort of confirmation yet they tell me that I will be billed $955 USD for cancelling beyond the “penalty free 5 day window”. I argue with the man who I have a difficult time understanding until he becomes very rude and hangs up on me.
I immediately call my credit card company and ask them to disallow any charges from the company and explain what happened. They said that DHR had “captured” my payment on the day that I attempted to book, but that it had expired due to inaction on their part and that I shouldn’t worry.
Everything turned out well in the end and I wasn’t billed anything, but I would not recommend DHR in any way, shape or form.
Booking, shopping and actually going are all a part of a fun TTR experience and this is not the way I would want to see anyone have to start their vacation.
