Some of you will know I'm currently experiencing some health issues. I have a history of Deep Vein Thrombosis and Peripheral Arterial Disease. Over the last 3 years the arteries in my legs have become partially blocked, meaning I cant walk very far before severe cramps kick in due to reduced blood supply. In December I developed a venous ulcer on my lower leg that has still not healed 5 months later, and seems to be getting worse. These problems are all down to 30 years of smoking combined with unlucky hereditary blood chemistry. I have tried my very best to have the problems resolved here but no joy. I've seen several Doctors but none seems able to help. The technology and Doctors knowledge in Mexico is way less advanced than it is in the US, UK and Canada and I've left things too long already. I need to go home to the UK to try and get things sorted out there, before things get worse. Unfortunately, they may refuse to treat me since I have not been resident for many years. If there are any UK healthcare professionals here who can offer any advice I'd be glad to hear it via PM or email. I was hoping to delay this until our usual summer break in July or August but I need to get this dealt with sooner. I'll be flying home on May 2nd and have a return ticket back to Cancun for June 13. I am sure my return date will change, but I don't know if my trip will be shorter or longer. The hardest part is leaving Jannet and the kids behind, I don't want to turn their lives upside down and mess with our kids schooling so I'll be going solo and staying with family. If it looks like I'll be in the UK for a long while then they will come over and join me in the summer when school is out and we'll see where we go from there. I'll be working with the site as usual while in England but obviously will be taking a break from the cruises. Jannet will still be going on most of them and deal with check in. I'll miss many friends old and new, especially the May crowd some of whom I've known for 10 years and always enjoy spending time with. Sorry! Thanks for listening.
Steve, As a cancer survivor I empathize with your situation and respect that you are taking these necessary steps in attempts to get better. I'm so sorry to hear that you will have to go alone for now, but I hope and pray for positive medical news for you quickly so that you may once again be with your family. Stay in touch with those you love as much as possible. When everything else is gone, they are the only things that truly matter. Stay positive and I'm sure all your ccc friends can help you with that. ;-)
Oh, poor Steve. We do wish you the best. I hope that you do find someone to help you in the UK. Hard to beleive that they would deny ANYONE in need of medical care. You and your family will be in our prayers. Stay strong and hope you get the attention that you deserve.
I hope all is well with your health, make that your #1 priority, we will all miss you but i know this will all work its self out, best of luck in the uk, you will be missed
Get well soon Steve... Let me know if you need any help with site support or anything while you are away... And I hope we get to see you again in September...
sorry tohear this steve. i know janet and the kids will be in good hands while your gone. they are truly loved and respected. get well, hope it resolves itself soon.
Get well! the only concern that should be in your mind is taking care of you. At this point if you are not healthy, you family won't be either. The longer it lasts the more stress you put on the situation. Everyone around you knows and cares for you, so do what you need to get yourself well. If Jannet needs any help with the cruises and getting people checked in, I am more than positive that any one of the people that have been on the cruise before know and understand what and undertaking it is and they would be glad to help in your absence. Make sure you get well, that is number one! best of luck and Kellie send her best also.
Hate that we will not get to meet you but our thoughts and prayers are with you for a speedy recovery!! Take care!
