A bit of TTR history

Wow, I just found out the first hotel built in Cancun was the Playa Blanca (inaugurated in 1974), which later became the Blue Bay hotel, and is now Temptation Resort... The same year, Quintana Roo was granted statehood and Cancun Airport was inaugurated... Now it's starting to become clear why the infrastructure is getting a bit rusty at TTR, it's been there before we were even born! Can't imagine what Cancun must have looked like in 74, only 1 hotel in the whole strip...

So now when people ask where were going we can say ,'' To the oldest hotel in Cancun''

 

You gotta dress it up a bit... Say I'm staying at the most historic hotel in Cancun!

 

Or you can still say "The best hotel in Cancun!"

 

Crazy to think that only 40 years ago CANCUN did not even EXIST!! WOW!

 

So that explains the chairs , they took them out of storage.

 

I didn't think they were THAT bad.

 

The hotel opened doors on September 21st, 1974. Good excuse for the September crowd to plan a big 40 Anniversary party! Or maybe we should celebrate the whole year
