For those of you who may have missed the last event, the second qualifying race for the International Night Marathon Cancun 2009 will be held on Sat, Oct 24th, at 5 PM. [This represents a change from the previously announced date, for those of you who've been looking forward to it. Here is the exact message I got from the city about this event- la carrera del sabado 17 de octubre, se cambio para el sabado 24 de octubre a las 17:00 hrs la inscripcion sera una hora antes del evento.] Sponsored by the Benito Juarez Municipality, Cancun, and officially known as the Segunda Carrera Previa al Maraton Internacional Nocturno Cancun 2009, it will offer 5, 10 and 15K runs for all ages down to 12 (age 12-17, 5K only). Winners will be recognized overall, and by category (age, sex). Entry is just 37 pesos. Registration will begin one hour before race time, at the start/finish line, just below the bullring, on Bonampak. _____________________ For a better idea of the fun atmosphere that prevails at these events, here is a report from the last Carrera Previa, run in Cancun on Sept 27, this year.
Update My wife has decided she can improve her time, this time around, on Oct 24! It's funny how, once you get started, the competitive urge takes over.... (Those of you who follow this forum may recall that the last 5K sponsored by the city was her first.) __________________ If you don't feel you're quite up to participating, this time, there will be another opportunity on December 5, with plenty of time to prepare, between now, and then! [Looking ahead, on that day will be the 25th International Night Marathon Cancun 2009- also sponsored by the City of Cancun (Benito Juarez Municipality). The Night Marathon will include three events: a marathon, a half-marathon, and a 6KM race, most of each race run through the hotel zone. Women's International Distance Running Team, Cancun Just a reminder that this event is coming up this weekend. Cooler weather should make it even more fun to take part in. Any of you ladies that follow this forum interested in forming a Cancun Women's International Distance Running Team? Excluding no one, the concept would be to attract those who are living here, from abroad, to train and compete- for the fun of it- together.
Race day Today's the day!
