Just as a point of clarification some people ( like ourselves) are allergic to alcohol.

It causes our IQ to drop, our co-ordination to falter, our performance to fail and is generally a very bad drug for us to ingest if we ACTUALLY want to have a good time.


I suspect a very large percentage of the population also suffers these ill effects but due to decades of conditioning they think its an OK thing to do.

Too bad there are so many bad experiences with alcohol around the world.

Of the two substances to survive American Prohibition, its really sad they picked the wrong drug.


We have avoided travelling to places in the world that do not have a favorable outlook for our recreational substance of choice for obvious reasons.
As a result we have not been to Mexico for several years as the Calderone government waged war on its own citizens to appease the Americans who sought to repeat what was done in Columbia in Mexico in marijuana.

At least now the bloodshed in Mexico has abated as the new government has shown some leadership.
Why should Mexicans die for outdated American notions of morality?

I don't think they prosecute after that case, but it's still illegal I believe. They signed the UN drug treaty and to my knowledge haven't submitted anything to change their laws. It's definitely coming, but as the OP pointed out... it's a changing climate

 

I've seen the inside of a Mexican jail... I would not want to risk becoming a resident to try and test the boundaries of what a police officer, before you get to a judge, or even the judge for that matter, considers the current law.

You may want to become that test case, for which I wish you all the luck... but until I see worldwide headlines that pot is now legal to buy and consume in Mexico I won't be testing the waters....

I stand corrected. It's 100% legal there to possess up to 5grams. That was actually since 2009 (last trip I made was in 2008).
