Russ and I are planning a day trip over to Isla Mujeres on Wednesday 4th December. We’re more than happy to have company, if anyone else feels up to it. My plan is to catch the ferry from the pier that’s close to the resort (where the pirate ship docks) about 10am. On the island we plan to head down to a beach club on the south side of the island that’s also a snorkel spot (you can rent the gear, and they have lockers/showers etc too). I also want to visit Playa Norte, which is the classic ‘white sand blue sea’ beach on the north side, then before heading back, we’re going to grab something to eat/drink at Jax Bar & Grill (a Tex-Mex style bar on the main strip in the downtown area), before catching the ferry back and getting our glam on for the ‘dress to impress’ theme night. We’ll be waiting around in the seating area off to the side of the TTR lobby (next to the entrance) on the day from about 9:30am. Anyone interested, just rock up and introduce yourself! The only problem would be if the weather is bad. If it’s really cloudy or rainy, we’ll postpone for another day as the weather really does have to be nice to appreciate the beauty of Isla Mujeres at its snorkel spots/beaches. I’ll update with more details on the places we’re going to visit there as we get a bit nearer to the date.
FYI, if you eat lunch at JAX (which is very good), they have free WIFI available, so you can use a wireless device without paying for it at TTR.

Thanks for the tip - I did not know this. We don't bother with internet at the hotel, but it would be good to check up on the return flight we have booked at some point!
I know! We just ended up having so much fun at the hotel, we forgot to venture out of the resort apart from a flying visit to the Walmart. This year I really want to make that return trip to Isla Mujeres for the day. You get to see some of the island on the Boobs Cruise, but it is deserving of its own trip as well.

A couple of more suggestions (we do this day trip every time we're at TTR): - A cooler, "bad pool day" (but not a stormy day), is a good time to go to the island, as you can still have a great time tooling around in a golf cart, even though it is too cold to enjoy the water Just dress appropriately, as it can be very breezy on the golf cart. -Check when the sun will set, and plan your return trip accordingly. One year(in January) we had planned on taking the 5:00 pm(or about that time) ferry back, only to realize at about 4:00 that we would be getting back when it was dark if we did that. We had to rush to return the cart and literally run to the ferry dock so we could walk back to the resort before it was dark. -Order a Mapchick map. -Stop at the little local stores to pick up drinks, and if there are kids around, let them pick out a candy bar and buy it for them, their happy faces will make the island trip worthwhile.
Thanks for the suggestions. I absolutely have to go on a good weather day though - the beach at TTR is pretty lame for swimming, so I like to go when the water is crystal clear and I can get some snorkeling in! I give up the great beach at TTR for the crowd, price and adult only policy. I find Isla Mujeres to be a lot more reasonable for souvenirs than Cancun - especially when you venture further inland than the main strip in the Downtown area.
We are going to be at Temptations Dec. 7 - 14. Also planning to do a day trip to Isla Mujeres. Not sure of the day yet as Boobs Cruise dates are not confirmed yet. Might wait till we are there and decide what day works. We would welcome new friends to join us also.
We had lunch at mango cafe it was amazing... Gf had coconut french toast and i had the best tacos ever .. We will be there the 29th - dec 5th so look forward to meeting you guys.. Im 6'7" and will be in the pool no matter what and she has side tatz look for us we are brad and kellee.... Im kinda the mayor of cancun lol we also took the ado bus from downtown to puerto morales for snorkling and found an awesome place to eat there.. The lil restraunt accross from the hotel has great pasole too.. Lets have some fun .. See ya soon
