Where do you guys book your trips through? In the past, when traveling to Playa del Carmen, we used a travel agent to book our trip, but this time, for our trip to TR, the travel agent was considerably more expensive than travel websites such as Cheaptickets.com, expedia.com etc. The issue that I am having is the travel agent that we used for other previous trips is telling me that we are not guaranteed our requested room type (Jacuzzi room) if we book through travel websites. I'm not sure if this is the case, or if she is just trying to convince us to book directly through her. Have you guys ever encountered not getting the room type that you booked? Also, I am open to using suggested travel agents if you would like to share someone in your travel network. Any suggestions and comments are welcome! We are looking forward to our 1st TR stay in August. Thanks, RodnHeather
We've used Expedia, Orbitz, Travelocity, Priceline, and Bookit and always gotten exactly what we reserved and never had any problems. Book through whichever site gives you the best deal. If you're nervous, call TTR about 48 hours after your online booking and confirm your room type came in correctly. Then, about a week before your trip, you can check in online through TTR's website, which again allows you to confirm your room choice and any other preferences, such as quiet area, first floor, etc. Shouldn't be any worries :aktion030:
if just looking for room use alpharooms which Steve has the link to, its a lot cheaper than other sites, however if booking flight also expedia usually gives the best prices
Bookit.com One follow up. I haven't been to Temptation yet, so don't know if my room will be the one I choose yet (I didn't book anything special so not too concerned)... I will follow up with Temptation though to confirm things are setup... Thanks for the tips.
when i used bookit there were about $100 more than expedia usually bookit is cheaper for me but not at Temptations for some reason
We have been using the same travel agent for years. He is also a TTR member and affiliate. He has never let us down and in fact saved our butts a couple times when flights got cancelled. We could save $50 maybe by doing it ourselves....but whats $50 when it comes to peace of mind. And he always calls us when stuff happens so there is no surprises. I know a lot of people prefer the internet...but we like to talk to real live people and not some internet entity who could care less about our welfare. Of course this is just our opinion,
Check Funjet and Applevacations also. No reason you cannot do this yourself and save some time and $$.
