have any of you ever booked directly with the hotel, then gotton your own airfare? if so, where did you book your airfare out of? the us or canada? are there any travel companies booking all inclusives out of the us? If so, how do they compare?
Well, I'm about to find out...someone was nice enough to rent me a week of their time share. So I'll be booking my airfare separately. It will likely be Westjet from the prices I've seen. The cost is between $400 and $600 pp/round trip it seems...I haven't looked to see what it would be out of Buffalo, but I don't feel like driving three hours and then getting on a 4 hour flight...but that's me
We have done this before....booked flights from westjet....but I think almost any charter(ie sunwing...sunquest) will book flight only....usually cheaper for a package deal though....unless you get the hotel for a great rate..
All depends where you fly out of Some weeks one will be cheaper ,, then ........... Ive used Orbitz.com ,,,, CAA travel,,,,Expedia,,, Flight Center.. Just keep in mind when doing separately if something goes wrong with your flight your on the hook for the Hotel or Vis versa cause you did not book it as a package. Booking with a foreign Travel agent I also loose TICO protection from Ontario. Booking your own flight also gives you great flexibility on dates. I love to leave on Friday and come back on Monday (10 nights). Last year I did that for the package price of 7 nights.Cheaper to fly certain days. You also have to book your own hotel transport, not a big deal. You will also see more plane transfers. Make sure they give you enuf time to transfer. I rather sit in the airport for an extra hour and enjoy a liesurly beer then do the airport dash.
We booked a return flight out of Halifax, cost $2000 for the both of us by the time we booked our seats, that was with west jet - not much of a deal but it's booked
For us living on the island it's just not worth doing it separately. Okay, so we have to suffer through a 14 day vacation (7 is just not long enough), but it's great to be able to fly direct from Victoria to Cancun. D
Two times down, including this one I've booked a package with Sunwing. The one time they were sold out I booked a package through Expedia that flew me on WestJet. Way cheaper than booking a flight and then the hotel from the hotel.
I have always used redtag....we have friends in USA , while visiting we looked at this...it is much cheaper going with all inc than booking flight and hotel seperate. At least with all in you get your transfer included. There are some good deals going on now....i know flight center had a deal just for flight about a week ago for 200 return from Ottawa.
I booked the hotel and flight separate cause i won the flight from westjet at the PNE this year. my agent booked the hotel though a travel company in Australia. Gogo travel or something like that.
We have used expedia and Apple vacations. They give you a deal on the flight hotel combo but you have to supply your own transfer to/from airport which we used USA Transfers with no problem and very reasonable! I wouldn't say that the over all cost is any better than a charter but we have found the flight times can be better. We like to leave early and get there early then leave around lunch time. Sometimes the charter flight times can be pretty shitty. Especially for winter 2013!
