We are long time members of CancunCare and multiple repeaters all the way to back to the Blue Bay Getaway days. For many years, when we were younger, it was an annual trip, great party and memories. Not LS but love the sexy vibe and the fun had by all. Missed a couple years due to timing of the shut down and major renovation, then COVID. Made it back a couple times a over the past few years to see the renovation. However we were very disappointed by the change in the vibe and overall friendliness of the crowd. We know it can never be the the old BBG, IYKYK, and yes we are getting older but we were still disappointed. It just felt like “Vegas” vibe was much more judgmental, especially to people a little older (60).
We want to go back in 2026 but concerned of the same experience. So long start to question if others have that same “feel”? Especially those in this group that have a similar history with the resort. We know it will never be BBG, nor could we keep up that pace anymore, but also want to have the best experience now. Appreciate anyone’s thoughts.

We have been going since Reno (were there first week). We have noticed changes since then (and yes we are older now too). A lot of them have come from how Original group has been marketing the new property and who they have targeted (younger, Tik Tok type “look at me” and Hookah crowds).
I think overall that strategy has failed though (except for the major party holidays) as TTR does not have the amenities to really excite that crowd (imho). We avoid Memorial Day still though because the vibe that weekend is just too different.
That said, we still find the right vibe with the right people and continue to make new friends each trip. We have started doing more 3-4 day weekend trips versus the 9-10 day trips we made initially though we still have a full week trip with “our group” that has formed from meeting at TTR and have done that annually for 10 years now.
It might be a little more difficult now (isn’t everything as we get older?) but it is still the best adult party spot we have found!! We are already booked for a March trip and will try our first St Pats day. Missed it by a day last year.

Been 11 times starting post BBG and have noticed a change based on the time of year. Our usual has been the first week in May, and it's been and is a great, friendly non-judgmental crowd. A lot of the same people we met/saw since our very first trip. Tried September, October and November and was a completely different vibe. Yup, the look at me, phones out, hookah crowd. And, we are older, 50 and 60+. Still have a great time in May and hopefully going back the first week again.
Just wish they would bet rid of the clamshells and cabanas around the fool. Creates a whole different atmosphere.

Wow, a 20+ years member of cancuncare. You've been here almost as long as I have! We were both there back in the day.

I'll be honest, I no longer enjoy it the same way I did. I still go, but nowhere near the frequency I used to.

I was last there a few weeks ago - my 81 yr old Dad was over and he loves the place. So it's not really an age thing, it's just a personal thing and what you want from it and your prior experiences. You may still love it. But for me it's gotten old, as have I. My first trip was 2001, I was 34 back then. Now I'm 58. Very different outlook.

I can't think of anything that's the same as it was 24 years ago, and we are not the same as we were then either. I remember here on the forum, before cellphones and before Facebook existed, people would post they were leaving for the airport and we never heard anything more from them until a day or two after they got back a week later. Times change.

Demographics have changed a lot, the hotel's business model has changed a lot. There are no career entertainers like there used to be, just pretty people that can dance who stay for 3-6 months. The bartenders and staff are the same happy people as ever, though the names and faces may change occasionally.

I know it's my gig, but no shame in saying the closest you'll get to the old BBG/Temptation is the Boobs Cruise.

We have been going probably 15 years. We are 61 and 60 and haven’t found it to be judgmental. There are younger groups that don’t really reach out or try to include us but if we make an effort we have never been felt to feel unwelcome. We always have plenty of fun people to make a great party. We do feel the hotel trying to create the Vegas vibe is missing the mark. Most of the best seats at the pool are empty, and the people that are using them look out of place. I do agree with Steve that the closest thing to the pre renovation vibe is the Boobs Cruise.

We are early 40, non-LS, and went for the first time in July. We absolutely loved it. Made a lot of friends our age (meeting up with one couple next month in Nashville). I think it helped we did a Mon-Fri trip. I’m not sure we could hang with the weekend group. Looking forward to going back in March!

I think the age range has widened and is probably the biggest factor. Older couples and younger couples probably both project some social anxiety on eachother in the form of thinking the other is judging them. Someone has to be the first to interact. I think the age range just adds some awkwardness that needs the right personality to get through the initial bs.

Our first was 2018 and been going twice a year for 9-10 days at time since. We didn’t see the BBG days and man do we bite ourselves for not going back then, cause everything we’ve heard fits our mindset.

We do feel the same changes mentioned though, but we can’t say it’s the age gap that creates the uneasy feeling. We’re in early 50’s and have become friends with every age group in there. The phones, the fashionista and physical upgrades / flashing and look at me vibe online is what kills it for us, and this has nothing to do with age. It’s true that it might be more frequent in the younger crowd but we’ve seen a lot of these youngsters following our tracks and loving it! No artificial flavours, just good people, good vibes and a taste for good old human feel. Living the moment, not the online shit. This is why we go back, to meet this type of crowd.

It seems that we can see it more easily at Desire lately. Maybe more limiting over there?! But Steve you said it: the best out of this world experience without the online flashing is on the Boobs Cruise!!

We've noticed a difference bewteen during the week, and the weekends. During our last couple visits, it felt much more like the old, sexy, easy to meet vibe during the week. It's what made the place great. But by Friday the vibe definitely felt more like the Vegas type crowd that was mostly there to be seen, or because they had heard great things but don't quite understand how to actually be a part of it. Our future trips will definitely be during the week because of it. It's just more fun then in every way!

We have found that if you make enough friends during the week, the “me crowd” on the weekends is less of a factor as they get left behind ;)
