Yeah I know I should 'get with the times' but dang I miss 10 years ago the chatter here for each month would be constant, on dates, outfits, life. I'd even read posts for the months I wasn't going to TTR just to see what the heck went on! Now we have the Facebook group with 'photo for attention' basically every post. That's it. Negativity or here's my dates and here's a photo of mine or my wife's ass.
I do. Especially when it’s getting close to being there. Face book, what’s app and other sites have taken its toll on Cancuncare. I still like this format though.
I swear, when it's nearing a month on my return to TTR I'm gonna post a photo labelled 'photo for attention' that will be something completely opposite of ass and boobs out, something weird or hilarious for attention. Shake it up and stop the FHM-level soft porn in its tracks for a day maybe LOL.
Yeah, I know what you mean Trish. I'm still here a few times every day but sad to say the forum is a pale shadow of it's former glory. The forum is just short of 21 years old and there have been a lot of changes since then! There aren't many forums left across most niches due to Facebook. I hate Facebook with a vengeance. However, these days it's a necessary evil for a business such as this. So we have to have a presence there. The preening, arguments and self centered posts on FB mean I spend about 10 mins a day there and most of that is looking at football news or politics - although politics are usually censored if they dont fit Zuck's narrative. I remember the Spring Break forum going from thousands of posts a day to virtually nothing within a year in about 2008 as people discovered Facebook. FB also made starting a 'community' so easy that even my cat can do it! It's no longer a technical challenge with a financial risk. It takes about 5 clicks and then you just just spam existing groups for new members. Very few groups get succesfull (mainly those that concentrate on swinging and ass pictures). But if they do then they start selling the same things I do, if they get really succesfull they start doing takeovers 'just for their group' and exclude everyone else. The show off my wife's arse crowd remind me of the modern day equivalent of the readers wives section in a 1980's porn mag. It's become the norm so much that people started doing it here to such an extent it got my Google Ads account shutd own and harmed our search engiine rankings, resulting in fewer people finding the site Still, the forum just about survives. It's a place for people who don't like/use Facebook to gather, and from my point of view it promotes the Boobs Cruise. There's probably a point somewhere in the future where it gets turned off because it's more trouble than it's worth. But we haven't reached that point yet. If I sound like a sad angry old man, it's probably because I am I don't like watching it die, it was my baby and the first of it's kind long before Facebook even existed.
Hang in there Steve. We will be there in November. Can we bring you anything? We have had so much fun on the Boobs Cruise over the years I feel like we owe you a small token of appreciation.
I don't use Facebook (or any social media--meh) but my wife has one. We still love this board because it really helps get us in the mood when we're close to a visit (like we will be in mid Sept). While we don't go back to the pre reno days, we certainly have appreciated what this board offers(ed) and how many great people are on here. Like you said Steve, just a sign of the times I guess. New guard takes over and they are "raised" differently on certain social media and its use. Thus....here we are. Trish--if we ever get to meet ya, we'll lift a few shots all together.
I check this board almost every day! I still love to read trip reports (the more recent, the better) and I enjoy reading how excited new guests get as their dates approach. I also like to help answer questions & offer suggestions if I can. I don't use Facebook (I only have a FB account bc there was a takeover last year at Desire & the best way for updates and communication was FB) so this is pretty much the only place I check for Temptation/Desire/Cancun buzz. A *thank you* to Steve for maintaining this board; I hope people continue to use it.
Thanks, I appreciate the offer. I've never lived in the US so there's not really any food or drink from there I miss. Unlike when we first arrived, Amazon now offers a fast and secure service to Mexico so there's not really any practical items I can't get myself either. Feel free to bring a bottle of Fireball, which is often difficult to get here, and maybe we can share that.
Still remember I found this board simply searching on Google for what jellyfish are like in Cancun, because was planning a trip here in 2011 and Cancuncare had the top answer back then. Everything snowballed from there. I know searching general stuff about Cancun no longer brings Cancuncare up, like it's repressing the site as a viable search result. There's a thousand travel sites now with 'news articles' that are basic listicles on vague information that will take 1st place now. I appreciated what I read here felt genuine. Facebook feels more of a façade. It's all that's left so fair enough, but it's not the same. Reddit is somewhat viable, but in no way feels like a community that we have here. Facebook is mostly a picture dump ground.
