I honestly wondered how that all worked and someone could just setup shop like that on the beach and have it there semi-permanently. Really bummed for them since they did a good job though. Hopefully they will figure out an alternative.
Wow that sucks. I loved those massages. Couple times a week at least. It’s the only true relaxing time I had there!!
this blows! they are very nice ladies, who do a great job! maybe they can get a little shop across the street.
This is happening all over the State, and has been for some time. That particular area of beach has had more and more structures and kiosks without permits popping up recently, it was starting to resemble a flea market. Beaches are supposed to be public areas of beauty, not free for all business plots. You can't just build permanent tents and install beds, just in the same way you can't build a house on the beach just because you would like to. Outside of the front access to Albatros on the street a while back there was a pop up Covid testing place, also a guy that sold breakfast snacks. They were both closed down in a similar fashion. Also happened at Mandala Beach club where they built structures on the beach and at multiple locations in Playa del Carmen.
Thanks for the info Steve. It’s always good to have the true story from someone on the ground and in this case a fellow business owner. I could imagine what it would look like on the beach if everyone just set up shop unrestricted…it would be a mess.
