We're headed back to St. Martin again, this time over New Year's, so that'll be interesting. I'm sure it's going to be a good time, I just think it'll be "interesting." High season and all that. Fancy yacht-level rich people moving around... LOL!
If it's like any of the previous trips have been, it'll be great. Staying in a new area to "stay in," over by Cupekoy Beach.
Last time we were at St. Martin they were still trying to recover from the hurricane (I don’t recall which one). It was still beautiful, but sad how much was lost. I’d love to go back some time. Hope Y’all have a good time.
We've been back 2x since the last bad storm, Hurrican Irma. She WAS a bitch! The Dutch side was Way out in front of the French side getting things restored. This last trip we found out why the French side was so far behind. Apparently, private industry (mainly) and the Dutch government kicked it into gear to get things repaired, loaning out funds, providing the insurance policy payouts, etc. But, apparently the French (Europe mainland French) sort of caused... delays... and people weren't getting their insurance payments, there wasn't any Real effort fromt he mainland to reconscrreconstruct, not nearly to the level on the Dutch side. It ended up being a power-play to try to get the citizens of the French side of St. Martin to forgoe their independence and "return to the fold" as part of actual France. Sort of repatriation, so to speak. So, they're at least 3 years behind the Dutch side, but ti's starting to look much better again, now that they've figured out that Mainland France wasn't their best bud...
