Steve, what's the testing requirements for us to enter Cancun? Also is it easy to arrange tests to come home?????
There are none. Antigen test is provided free by the hotel if you are staying 3 nights or more. PCR tests are an extra charge, but not excessive (they have to be processed at a laboratory, not instant result). Not sure which test you need for return to the UK.
The drama continues as we've just had an email from our travel agent saying a final decision on whether our flight will actually fly will be on or just after May 27th. Therefore we have to pay the balance of the trip this week and claim it all back if it gets cancelled.
we are looking to book for february next year, due to working and family commitment, this will be our first time going, really looking forward to an adults only beach holiday, would love to chat to anyone going around this time or have been before , all advice welcome .

Government guidance right now whether you can travel to the Amber List countries for a holiday is so vague, it's got to be deliberate. I think it's a case of "If you ask, we'll say no. If you go for whatever reason, and follow the guidelines with testing and self-isolation, we won't do anything". Well I think so anyway. Right at the top of the guidance it says 'What you should do if you have travelled to an Amber List country within the past 10 days', and gives the guidance. Then way, way down at the bottom it says 'You should not travel to Amber List countries'. Well is that a guideline or a rule?? They don't give any indication what is and is not permitted as a reason for travel. Nowhere does it say you can't travel for a holiday. Just that you shouldn't!
Just bullshit created by the media again. They ask 15 different Ministers the same question and press them so much until they get a slight variance in answer. Then they start screaming about unclear guidance. The media these days no longer report the news they try to create it. I've got Sky News on at the moment, and it's driving me mad. You can go to Amber countries, they are just trying not to encourage it. It's guidance/advice. There is no law.
Couldn't agree more. They even said yesterday that if you travel to an Amber country your travel insurance would be void. Therefore I contacted my insurance company who assured me that was not the case and I would be fully cover. Roll on June 12th.
