My husband and I are coming in Dec 30th to celebrate the new year. We have a room booked but didn't realize till after that room service is not free for our room and there are a lot of other things we don't get. I want to upgrade but I don't know if it's worth it. If we upgrade what's the best room?
Its definately a preference thing but the fact that u already feel like you are not getting certain perks makes it seem like the upgrade would be worth it. We know of all the perks but never felt a real Desire to pay for them so we have always stuck with the same room that's not part of the tower. You might get a great view with ur ocean view room, but you also might only get a view with a slight glimpse of the ocean. If a view is really important then switching to a tower room will give u that for sure. We have heard nothing but amazing things about the lunches at the rooftop bar so that's a perk u may enjoy, or u can pay $40 per couple (unless they changed the price) to get a day pass and try it. The room service is a cool perk to have too. I believe u can still get room service at other rooms for $5, but was recently reading it said "exclusive room service menu" for tower guests. So maybe thats referring to specific items. Free porn.....that's a win We know lots of people that book the tower rooms every year and lots that dont. But, if all the perks seem appealing to you I would upgrade if I were u. Worst case u decide it wasnt worth the upgrade and u dont so it next time instead of wishing u had. In terms of best rooms....obviously a penthouse or master suite are the best. I'm not 100% on the main differences between the ocean view and oceanfront rooms but I believe the oceanfront rooms are the ones right in the middle of the tower that look straight out at the ocean while the ocean view rooms are all the others.
Brent makes some great points. Slight correction being that the Lush Tower rooms are the ones in the middle directly facing the ocean. Bash Tower rooms are the ones on the inside of the "V" facing each other with the ocean visible to the east.
The Ocean view rooms are a safer bet then getting a Garden view. So right there you do have a win in your favor. Like said above the main things you will be missing are really just: 1. Free room service. You can still get room service, it's just $5 each time. (I'm 95% sure it's the same menu) 2. Access to the roof. But like said above you can pay to go up there $20 per person. Most people only visit one our two times per trip. It's a great area, but underutilized. 3. Free Porn. You can still add this for the week, at like a $20 cost total 4. Tower deck. It's a reserved seating area for tower guests. I not much for a lounger anyway, so this would never matter to me personally. A chair a Temptation (for most guests) is just a place to throw your stuff. If it won't be much to upgrade your reservation to a Bash or Lush room, I would say go for it. Asking the best room (Lush or Master) is great, if you have 700-1K a night, hahaha. Last year it was a big $ difference for NYE, so we didn't. I was not happy with our garden room, as I prefer a Bash room, ut I couldn't justify the cost. Moving forward I just won't go for NYE.
I guess I would ask what are you looking for in your vacation. If you aren't' planning on spending any time in your room, then Ocean View is probably fine, and a Bash Tower isn't necessary. It's still cheaper to get an ocean room and just A La Carte pay for room service, Sky Bar access, or porn when you want it. For us we use room service a lot as well as the Sky bar, so that made the price point closer, and we really like the views and atmosphere of the Tower, so that is why we upgraded to that. Bash, not Lush. If you're just looking for a nicer room with a guaranteed good location, then I would suggest a Jacuzzi Room. They are first floor around the quiet pool.
