selling bottle service is upselling. We asked about the Moet Pods and while I do not remember the exact price it was upwards $200 for a bottle of Moet and to sit in the pod beside the sexy pool. I'm hearing that upselling bottles and preferred seating is becoming a norm. My opinion is that there is no place for upselling at an all inclusive resort.

Totally agree with FNT, it's there business, were just customers with bucks, if they can sell it for more $ and sell "timeshare" to a younger audience then can't criticize the business model. However, the hotel, is clearly not full outside the "weekend" envelope, which from our previous experience was not the case but was very quiet when we where there in June 2019 (till the weekend, ala L.Vegas...) Why would you lose someone of the quality of Saby unless you don't have the demand for her ability/services (say's it all). Punters decide what they want,, personally I'd rather have a hotel full Monday to Sunday 52 weeks of the year bounding with life, with punters returning year after year.... sounds almost like McDonald's !!!!

Gotcha. Didn’t realize it was up to the pool servers to push those as we’ve never been asked about buying into those in all our trips.

Id be in favor of deprecating the structure of the premier membership in favor of paying for bottle service or up selling. The membership doesn't make sense for me. I am however someone who does pay for bottle service in Vegas and i like how it works. You're just required to have a minimum spend for the table or area. But it seems the bottles have a fixed price that also includes the seating at TTR, that seems easier. Premier should be killed for a customer loyalty program. I say that because that is what would work better for ME ;)

    I'd disagree.

Would you say that everyone should get unlimited Moet and Chandon bottles (for the $200+ they are paying per night), or no one should be able to - even if they are happy to pay extra?

I agree. I have zero problem with them selling bottles, etc. Its not like were forced to buy any of it. I agree the vibe and clientele is changing too and dont have a problem with that either. Everything evolves and changes over time so it was inevitable to happen at TTR. TTR is starting to remind me of Miami in the late 2000's and im digging it because I loved Miami in that era.

Being available on a menu and upselling are two different things. At some point upselling becomes pressure sales and the all-inclusive is less and less. I go to Cancun to escape the upselling of resorts and clubs in US and Europe. In the end if it becomes less enjoyable and the value doesn't meet the experience then alternatives will be explored.

The bottle prices are on a menu, if you want one you ask for a menu and tell them what you would like to buy. If you don't want one, don't ask for a menu. If you are offered a menu regardless you say no thanks and carry on with your day.

Upselling would be you ask for a 1ltr bottle, and they pressure you to buy a 3ltr. That doesn't happen.

As for 'alternative' resorts where do you have in mind? There are none comparable worldwide as far as I know.
