ok, so what anchors were you talking about that were “chirping” that this was a hoax? I assume it was somebody.
We all know it was Fox, but your reply to my post suggested you assigned me to a team based on me raising the "hoax" discussions on Fox, whereas I was just pointing out the frailties of other media coverage besides that of CNN. CNN and MSNBC anchors "chirp" too. No need to rush to the defence of Fox just because I used the word "chirp".
Got it. I’m certainly not defending Fox. I never watch it, and honestly don’t know what channel they are on.
OK, I have finally figured out how to use the +quote tool.... look out, I've got a new toy! *snort* J3: First, Kyle, let me congratulate you on the very smooth delivery of the gentleman's wager so as to gain what I think we'd All like to have as a nifty bet, macabre subject matter aside. I'm serious, no joke and no "stab" intended. I thought it really funny, how it was presented. Next, back to my (dark humor paramedic-inspired) my thing with morbidity numbers and how they're changing. You just represented (I know it was you quoting, so it's really someone else's representation, but still) that Sweden has 21 out of 100,000 population dying, and that number is now considered "high." That is a 0.021% fatality rate, folks. The reason I'm finding this interesting is simple... just go back two weeks in the other threads and compare the projected morbidity rates (from the "experts) being tossed around. It seems shocking to me that at one time rates as high as 3% were being offered as "what was going to happen." J3: Hey, we in the U.S. Armchair Quarterback literally everything, it's bigger than baseball. Serious! J3: Say it isn't so... not National Geographic, too. Crap. Growing up (also as a geek) I loved NG, and definitely NOT for the topless pics of African Tribe ladies. Volcanoes, man! Lions, & Tigers & Bears Oh My. Loved the photography in that magazine. Is it filled with tons of pics of Hillary & The Donald facing off in a never before seen Death match back in 2016 or something.... that would have actually been cool, but I bet not. Maybe they've got time-lapse pics of Biden turning into a full-on Zombie? That'd be scientifically interesting. On a serious Biden tip (at the risk of going political), check this out which I just found: The Biden Trap (Just go read it. Interesting problem facing them. J3: Glad you recognize that. It's hard to get Canadians to marginalize themselves, so thanks! LOL! J/K, Karen. I couldn't resist. Low-hanging fruit and all that. Easy target, dumb humor and so forth. EASE UP on the dislike button everyone, I love Canada and probably 98% of the Canadians I've met, which, going to Cancun a LOT, means I've literally met thousands. Compare that to Americans, who I only like about 20% of and you get the picture. J3: Quote use is awesome. Here's my own contribution -- “You are young yet, my friend,” replied my host, “but the time will arrive when you will learn to judge for yourself of what is going on in the world, without trusting to the gossip of others. Believe nothing you hear, and only one half that you see." (Edgar Allen Poe, from his short story, "The System of Dr. Tarr and Professor Fether.") ... doesn't that ring true in our "modern media" age? J3: In Restling's defense, your mode of response fell smack-dab right into the standard "reply with implied intentional insult" all the rage in current social media, so that's what most of us were thinking, too. It is possible to be lumped-in with a crew with which you don't agree just because you "sound like them." isn't fair, but is real. For the record, I can't stand Twitter (from which the implied insult art form seemed to have spawned). There, I said it. 240 characters, my ass. This was fun, interesting, and I bet I do it over & over again now. Go +quote!
I mean, he is pretty blind, so I'll cut him some slack, but really, not knowing how the quoting works until now....? lol
I take your point, John. I should have used a more neutral word than "chirp", even though a lot of these television anchors DO chirp. There's only so much of it I can watch, on ANY channel. Love all my American TTR friends, and don't want to ruffle anyone's feathers over issues that touch on the polarized political context in your fine country. Not my place to wade in.
oh boy. You learning how to use quotes may be a very, very, very bad thing my friend. (Sarcasm). That was a long post ha. Re my challenge/bet offer to Steve, it was more about the different approaches (herd immunity vs social distancing) effect on death rates and less about the death rate itself. His theory is herd immunity will be better in the long run even though the current numbers show that currently it is not. I don’t agree with this theory. Only time will tell of course so it will be interesting to see if Denmark, Finland and Norway ever catch up to Sweden. I do think it is interesting that Steve has not taken me up on my bet? Or responded at all. Hmmm I mean this all in jest Steve in case it isn’t coming off that way. But also important to note is I have been with you for 10 years and have generated at least 2 nights free in the penthouse in ad revenue due to posts right? (See John since the herd immunity vs social distancing bet angle didn’t work I am not appealing to his business sense to get me back in the penthouse)
