Armchair Epidemiologists of the world unite! Don't hate the player. Hate the game. Maybe someone can come up with a U.S. version of this quarantine bingo home game we're playing in Canada...
Not at all. I don't watch US News (nor read their websites routinely). It's pretty much all biased one way or other, and usually switches from 30 seconds on one story to 30 seconds on another. Very rarely covers a subject in any depth, and just political point scoring.
Ok? But I was replying to Match, who said CNN can be wrong, but at least they weren’t calling it a hoax, which I assumed was a slam on Fox. This is a general statement by me. I know everyone likes to pick sides, but my point is, why? Trump, and Fox News, and everybody else say stupid things at times. None of it changes where we are, or how we get out of it. It’s like preparing for a Cat V hurricane, and we get a Cat X.
News is no longer press. It’s sensationalized media. Including BBC . Every story that I am involved with gets messed up in the facts one way or another. I rarely do interviews anymore because they are just looking for sound bites to fit the story/agenda. Even local media. Haven’t intentionally watched national news in years and only very small bites of local.
Especially the BBC! They used to be very trustworthy and impartial, but have become a joke in the last 5 years or so. Did you know that in the UK everyone needs to buy a licence to watch TV? You can be fined or even imprisoned for not having one. The licence fee funds the BBC (no other channels), since they don't run any commercials. Not surprisingly there is a big campaign calling for the licence fee abolished.
BBC, I do miss Top Gear with the old crew. One of my favorite magazines also became a political activist platform. National Geographic. I had a subscription for years,. Ya, I can be a geek. They got a new editor a few years ago and now the magazine is about social justice and influencing the reader, not exploration and science. Gave up my subscription, it was hard to do as I loved to read the old magazine. The magazine lost a lot of followers.
Steve criticized CNN, so I pointed out the fallibility of other media in order to have a fair discussion. I took pains to say that CNN is not above reproach, but you jumped to the conclusion about who my "home team is". I'm Canadian...my home team doesn't even play in your league.
The same thing happened to my fave national news magazine. I resumed my subscription 6 mos ago after taking a break for 10 years due to not having time to read a weekly mag, and I didn't even recognize it anymore. What in the world has happened to our media?
“If you don’t read the newspaper, you are uninformed. If you do read the newspaper, you are misinformed.” - Mark Twain “Whoever controls the media, controls the mind.” - Jim Morrison True prophets. Crazy how it’s still true.
