Mexico is conducting Sentinel Surveillance testing in line with WHO guidelines.

WHO | Sentinel Surveillance

A limited number of highly qualified facilities test only those people with the most severe symptoms. This (according to WHO) is the most accurate way of identifying trends and progression of the virus.

This is exactly what other countries did at a similar stage of their virus progression.

I appreciate countries such as the US and UK have now moved on to more widespread testing e.g. of essential workers without symptoms. However, as many people take delight in pointing out, Mexico is at an earlier stage than those countries.

And, as I often point out, similar stay at home measures were introduced in Cancún before or at about the same time as those countries - despite us being behind in infection progression. Hopefully, that may help.

 

We're not doing mass testing here (see above), but not sure where you got 80 tests from?

775 (negatives) + 66 (in process) + 603 (positives) = 1,444.

Mass testing will probably start when you guys stop buying up every test kit that hits the shelves
