Has anyone participated in the water sports that is included with the hotel?

We are booking a full week this time around and we want to get more pictures to share with family. I figured some paddle boarding and snorkeling pics would be fun.

Does anyone have pictures or insight to quality or what's fun? We are going to be there at the end of April if that makes any difference in wildlife or anything.

We’ve used the stand up paddle boards and the catamaran. The Boat is super fun. If you’re not comfortable driving it yourself they will take you out and teach you. The only thing to be aware of, is that it’s really dependent on the wind.

Last time we were there they had three. One big one and two smaller. They were in good shape.

Do they charge you to take out the catamaran?

Paddle boards is definitely on the list.

    No. No charge for either.

They have Kayaks as well. Depending on how tired you feel from dancing they can be a good choice.

If you go around the dock to the right there is a shallow area with lots of starfish. No boat traffic either. We paddled almost all the way down to the bridge, when we came back they said we went too far.

Has anyone tried to get a scuba certification while in cancun? Would they 1) Be worth it, and 2) be safe?

We certified at home (in cold water), then went on a few dives. Certification is both expensive and time consuming, you also have to dive enough to keep it up.

What you can do is completed all the pool sessions and coursework at home, then get a referral to do your open water dives while on vacation. You’ll still need two days, though it won’t be full days.

Another option is to do a Discover Scuba course. You’ll spend a couple hours in a pool then they take you out to a reef for a five. No certification, but still get to dive all in one day.

We arranged some diveS ahead of time, and the shop was within walking distance on the lagoon side.

Thanks for the info, it sounds like if anything, I'll look into the discover option.

If you've not sailed a catamaran before, get the boys to take you out, they're brilliant and life jackets are provided. You may feel confident after a few trips to sail yourself...they'll always rescue you by jet ski. We try to sail every day we're there... the pleasure in seeing my girl friend soaked when I hit a wave (not deliberately ….. of course) is wonderful !!!.
