@newfyfun4u , @iowa farmers , @ScubaSteve , When we did the math, for the same amount of days and room type, Breathless costs about one day extra, so pricing between the two is definitely comparable as you do get a bit more luxury at Breathless.
Thanks for the detailed and entertaining report. One thing that struck me on your points scoring system. The factors where Breathless excelled are easily replicated at other places i.e lots of places have better food than TTR and a better location/layout. Having been to several hotels along the coast from Puerto Morelos to beyond Playa del Carmen there are dozens of them that have better food and venues. I call them 'cookie cutter resorts', since most follow the same pattern. Easily done since most have been built in the last 10 years or so, unlike TTR which is 40+ years old. Where TTR outscores Breathless, most of the factors are difficult to replicate no matter how hard a resort might try. The people, the activities, the nightlife, the play makers. That's what makes TTR unique in my view, and far from cookie cutter, not a single place in the World has managed to get anywhere close.
To be honest, we have been to places that do come pretty close to TTR , we just like to switch it all up a bit, I need that TripAdvisor travel map -> 2019-12-15.png to say we travelled to at least 25% of the world before we die…So there is work to be done in so little time LOL. Edit: sry the map is in Dutch...
We enjoy both, we can have loads of never ending fun but when it’s the time to relax we do enjoy the luxury…If this sentence makes any sense LOL
Thanks for the comp! We don't travel much so we'll stick with where the good party people are. We're fine with hearing crickets only at home! HA!
Yeah, no kids so traveling and meeting new people is our ambrosia, so we are out there as much as we can (<-read vacation days allow ). We personally have had wilder party’s on cruise ships tbh, yes the party ON the dancefloors are pretty vanilla compared to TTR, but some do continue in the cabins lol. However, pure party wise we might place TTR on the second place , and we are done for the time with cruises (always the same routes after a few they are not worth the price anymore), so we are more likely at this time to return to TTR for the party than any other destination .
One point seems to be missed.. The People at TTR. We travel the world, four vacations a year at least.... we've yet to find anywhere to match TTR for the party.. Cap d'Agde in South of France comes close but the parties spread over numerous bars and apartments but much naughtier... Yes, there are far better hotel's all over the world BUT they don't have the party or the people. Better rooms, probably better food, lots of "pretty people" , better beaches, and quiet often cheaper BUT we go on vacation (or holiday here in Europe) to enjoy ourselves and party when going to TTR, we don't go to chill, relax etc., we can do that at thousands of resorts (all looking the same) around the world. Another thing missed The Boob Cruise, not found anywhere else (yes, Steve, you can give me 3 pts for the promotion !!)… even in Cap d'Adge they don't have that LOL. So IMHO I can't see why we would want to compare TTR to resorts that are not comparable......…. our 3 pennies worth., p.s. the hotel could look at bedrooms re-furbished in the Catarina (4*) in Playa Del Inglis in Gran Canaria… simple and brilliant design without the whacky bits....
